Haven't really paid much attention to the Canadiens but I'm surprised Bourque cleared. Im thinking if his cap hit was lower he would of surely been claimed. So much potential with this guy.

Not much potential left in a 33 year old player

Dustin Penner is the best player not in the NHL right now.
He has won 2 cups and has put up better numbers than Bourque. Still, no team has picked him up, even though he is a UFA and could probably be signed for a huge discount.
If you're to sum up Bourque's career in one word, it's inconsistent. He'd disappear for months at time, score 5-7 goals in a week, and then disappear again.
Not surprised no one grabbed him off waivers at this point in the season. With injuries and such he might just find his way back out of the bus league again, but with his current cap hit he's not worth picking up.
Oh yeah, I forgot he ended up being the same age as cammy when we made that trade. For some reason I've always thought he was younger. Regardless, still surprised he cleared waivers.
Bergevin has been wanting Therrien to play Jiri Sekac more than he has been - so by sending Bourque down he is forcing Therrien's hand.
The fact that Bourqe wasn't claimed by anyone else is a function of not just his cap hit, but increasingly how aware teams are of the culture in their dressing rooms and not wanting to bring in someone who is a potential cancer.

I never doubted he'd at least clear on the way down.
We didn't even get a bag of pucks for Cammy, but yes we clearly still won that trade with Ramo alone and the Flames saved money to boot.
Too early to tell... The Habs did get our second(36 overall) in the 2013 draft. It'll be a few years until we know how good Fucale can be.

It was essentially player dump (Cammalleri, suspended mid-game - kind of crazy) for dump (Bourque)...... mid-age goaltending prospect Ramo for a 2nd (similar to Berra for 2nd?)......

The Flames lost a second round pick and got 2 quality assets. No brainer.
Plus, if Ramo plays like he did before and not last game, he easily would get a 2nd round pick in a trade, and probably better value than that. Not that I want to trade him right now.

when I hear Bourques name, I always think about this
IIRC that 'fight' lead to an incredibly rare 9 minute powerplay for the Caps (Bourque got 5 for fighting, 2 for instigating and 2 for something else). The Caps did not score.
