Are any of those his fault?

I know he was a minus on the first one, a weird bounce, can't blame him for that certainly. What about the other two?

I was actually waiting for someone to comment on Sven's plus minus. I watched 2 goals against where he just stepped on the ice. Poor indicator of this afternoons game.
Loving Jones' jump tonight!
Tough for Ramo and not much he could do on at least half of them however it is a confidence move for the rest of the team. I expect to see Ramo back in net next game and then back to Hiller.
Hopefully we are due for a couple PP in the 3rd and can capitalize.

I think Sven has been really engaged on the few shifts he has had. Getting in on the forcheck, taking on the panthers D on the boards and been putting the puck on net. The -3 is not a fair reflection of his game tonight imo.

He's been fine. Not great, not a liability, but looks better and more comfortable each game. He's been making the right plays with the puck at least and competing in more board battles. Hard to blame him on any of the goals.

What sticks out to me is his foot speed. Looks a step behind sometimes when reaching for the puck.

Im sorry but your defense of this guy is bordering on the absurd...is ANYTHING he does (or more importantly doesn't do) his responsibility?

Its patently clear the guy is simply not ready to play in the NHL and we have ample evidence. He is just not very good right now...end of story.

Florida is still out shooting the Flames. The Flames need to take more control in the third and get more shots on net. I have a feeling a garbage goal could win this game.

David Jones looks more like a morning weatherman than a hockey player.

This is the exact same way that Sven's season has gone in both Adirondack and Calgary. He's -3 in five minutes, but wasn't at fault for any of the goals against. Same story in Addy when he was -10 or so early but at least 5 of those were not his fault in any way (empty netters against for example)

No way does he look bored, whatever a bored hockey player looks like

AND certainly not uncertain where to be. If he is not on the boards he is dropping into his defence position to try and stop a breakout, he seems to be pretty clear where he needs to be to me.

I look at Byron, who, if maybe only by reputation/media coverage over the years, should be well below Sven on the skill/team impact level...and he looks head and shoulders above Sven. In all facets of the game too, as far as being engaged, being around the puck, skating speed, finding time and space to get quality scoring chances, and in general just having an impact. That goes for this game, this season, and last season.

While you can't blame the +/- as indication today, can someone really say he looks dangerous or on the verge of breaking out?

I agree. I don't think I've seen one clean goal today. Being -3 in this game means crap. It just means he was on the ice during those weird lucky goals by Florida.

Please don't do this.

Tell me how Sven was to blame on

goal 1: bad change by Monahan's line. he was on the ice for a total of 2 second before the puck went in.

goal 2. Granlund lost a battle in front of the net with the goal scorer. Byron went chasing after the puck carrier, leaving Sven to cover the right defenceman and the right winger by himself.

goal 3: A series of bad bounces in which Ramo went swimming.

I'm not trying to blindly defend him. I'm trying to be fair. I don't see anything he could have done differently to avoid these goals.

I'm not saying he's had a good game at all. Just that that is why -3 is a misleading stat. It was similar in the AHL.
