Ramo needs a start. When do you suggest he gets one?
I think Ramo should start next game for sure.

I'm talking about philosophically, as Hartley has stated that he's going to alternate goalies and let them compete with each other, I'm curious as to the psychological effect that has on the goalies. Wouldn't they be playing scared to not make a mistake, knowing that they will get yanked for the next game? Or does it encourage them to play their best? Or does it really depend on the goalie?

I have not really formed an opinion on this yet, I'm curious about other peoples.

It'd also be interesting to go back through the heavyweight teams in the league over the last 10 years and see if any successful teams actually employed a similar strategy.

Hartley is making Ramo play hurt and is not giving him a chance to play at his best. Hartley hates Ramo.

Page also wanted to turn Fleury into a Selke trophy winner, and deployed 5 defencemen on the struggling powerplay. I wouldn't look to him for inspration, personally.

Actually, I remember that game. It was Dave King who put 5 defencemen out on the power play. And he did it because it was struggling; or rather, because it wasn't. The whole team had given up that game and didn't have any struggle left in it. Nobody was earning power play time, but King had to give it to somebody. So he sent them a message by putting out 5 D – and leaving MacInnis and Suter on the bench. (They had 7 D dressed that game.)

That PP shift was obviously not effective, but it actually wasn't much worse than the team had been showing all night. After that, they got embarrassed enough to try.

Sometimes the best coaching move is to do something out of sheer sarcasm.

I thought Ramo should have been in at Tampa. Not because I think Ramo is better than Hiller, but because it is more of a 1a, 1b tandem and Ramo has history with that club.

I also do not think Hiller has proven anything other than that he is an excellent tender and can steal games when hot. He is the 1a if you will. It is not like Ramo has played poorly either.

Didn't Brent (or maybe it was Darryl) Sutter do that too?

Most coaches are reluctant to interrupt a winning streak for a goalie. With this team, I think the goalies need a 60-40 or maybe 70-30 split. Unless Hiller fades.

Yeah, it was either defencemen or some plugs who didn't have a hope of scoring. Brent I think.

Yeah, it was a while ago. At first I was thinking it was King who played Kidd and Tabaracci until either lost but checking back on the records, it must have been Page.
