I loved the fast skating, end to end pace of this game. I think overall we played well, but seemed to tire and lose momentum, as Tampa pushed hard, and took control in the final period.

I don't think I've ever seen so many shots hit goal posts in such a short period of time.

Sven didn't look better than Jooris. Jooris had another very strong game. Granlund didn't play as well tonight.

Did I mention that the Lightning had 4 days off before this (hadn't played since Saturday). Add the road wear to the Flames and it's no wonder they were skating circles around us. Just one of those schedule blips that gives a huge advantage to one team.

I honestly wouldn't put too much stock in this loss.

That was one of the best overall games Monahan has played as a Flame. He easily could have had a hat trick in the second.

Russell had an off game, but I think a lot of that was because he went face-first into the back of the net in the first. If he and Smid are both still hurting tomorrow, I think we could see Ferland put on the IR and Wotherspoon given the call-up.

Don't think so not from what he quoted. If I recall right he was lampooning Hartley during the half season for never playing rookies and favoring vets as well.

Edit. As well he roasted Hartley last year for not handing out premium minutes for young guys during the first half of the season.

Tampa players was a fast skaters. As soon as they were ahead by 2 goals they were flying. This is their 3rd road games and they already won 2 games so tonight's lost is not that big of a deal. They'll win the next game in Florida I am sure. It was a weird game, lots of bad bounces and a few hit the goal post.

I don't get the Seto hate. He looked good tonight.
He was +/- even on a game we were outscored 5-2 and one of ours was a PP.

Sure hope Colborne or Ferland are back soon..

Im pretty sure they are giving Guch lots of chances to show he belongs. This road trip is his last shot then hes gone once the injured guys start coming back. On another note Sven looked a lot better.

Hmm just seems right, Sven didnt play alot in the second half of the game (3rd lowest minutes for forwards, only ahead of Jones/Bollig)

I am talking about Sven Baertschi in the Tampa Calgary game. He played great for the first half but saw 0 seconds of PP time and was benched for almost the entire third period.

Can't work out if Wideman and Russell had an off game because they just had an off game, or if Tampas game forced them into mistakes?

Few thoughts: Sven had more jump. He was far from decent, but he wasn't as bad as he was in his last 2. Needs to keep improving, otherwise he'll be back in Addy pronto. Monahan in the first 40 minutes was almost unplayable. He had a much better game than Tampas first line centre, whoever he was. Loved Hudlers snipe, needs to be taking more shots though.

I thought Setoguchi had a solid game by his standards. People need to seriously stop wailing on the guy just for who he is and ignore when he has solid games. He will have plenty of terrible games, then have a whinge. But tonight, he wasn't too bad. As long as he gets waived and sent down when Colborne, Backlund and Raymond return, I won't mind too much. Johnny was pretty poor, but like the Caps game, he was probably still feeling the effects of his illness. Like Monahan, he probably won't get back to his best before we return home. Pleased for Gio and Brodie to keep clocking in the points. To those who suggested splitting them up: NO! They are playing too well together to start messing them about. Hiller didn't have much chance with any of the goals tonight(though he was miles away from the 5th, terrible positioning!), but Ramo should start in Florida on Saturday.

The PP was good, just couldn't quite make the most of some decent opportunities and Bishop shut us down well. For a more negative opinion(well, pretty much fact), Russell and Wideman were hideous. Lets just hope that it was an off night for the pair. They should*touch wood* have an easier night on Saturday.

And lets give credit to Tampa, whilst we shut down their top line quite well, the rest of the team stepped up and we couldn't live with them for large periods. Bishop also had a decent night in goal. They are one of the few East teams I hate playing against and I'm glad we only face them twice a season. I'm gonna get crucified for saying this, but I don't mind them. Fans are pretty terrible(5th goes in and its a cue to head for the exits, er what?!), but I like their team. Play with skill, speed and a desire to score goals. Compare them to a Trotz team and there is plenty to admire.

Next 4 games are an opportunity to get a few wins on the board before a brutal 2nd half of the month on paper. Looking forward to seeing how we react on Saturday already.

only caught the third and man were we a defensive mess.
poor decisions ,poor puck support.
need to change up the PP. Seto is out in the middle nowhere and Wideman is blasting away either into shin pads or at Bishop with no traffic there.
as much as injuries are creating great opportunities for players they are also keeping some deadwood afloat.

Stamkos? True, he had a better game than him, but he's hardly a nobody. I hope you were being facetious.

Its because after what we have seen of him no one here wants him. Hes taking up a spot belonging to one of the youngsters..

He is soooooo outta here after this road trip

That makes sense about Sven . Your quote and reply didn't.

You quoted

Great first half. Must have been why the coaching staff sat him for the second half.

My apologies. You can see why I could have been confused tho.

Edit. Sven was sat for a reason tho. There is a lot of habits in his Junior game that needs to go. I saw him a lot in Portland. He was spoon fed down there. He was on an elite team . He needs to start getting in the dirty areas.
