He's not adding much this year though is he?
He always pops in a couple, skates hard once, and just overall just enough to make us think "buuuuut... maybe?"

But I really would love to see something useful come back our way for him. I can't stand seeing #20 on the ice.

Habs fan brought this up after watching us demolish them last night:

"Imagine Iginla coming back to Calgary to get his cup"

... hate all you want, but I'd enter Fanboy 9000 if Calgary is an Iginla away from becoming contenders.

Part of the TV money was apparently factored in to this year's cap as a compromise. This article estimates the cap should increase to $74M+ :

I wonder how the Canadian $ will factor into the salary cap. Rumored to hit as low as $0.80 or even lower.

I would expect significant impact - equivalent of lowering revenue of the Canadian teams (and they are all among the top half in revenue generators in the league) by 20%

For the short-term, a slow-down of the growth of the salary cap should be beneficial for the Flames. Teams close to the cap will have a hard time signing their pending UFAs leaving teams with a lot of cap space a chance at some good players. When it gets to the point where all the Flames young players are looking for big contracts the Flames are hoping the cap roof rises significantly year over year.

If the Flames are ever an Iginla away from being a contender than their already contenders.
