I like the idea of the secrecy and the misdirections, remember when they filmed Empire though they didn't even admit that they were filming Empire it had a whole different name.
This is a new trilogy and the expectations are high on JJA to come up for a plot for a series of moves that can instantly fail with pre judgement.
Personally I don't want any character or plot reveals before I go to the theatre, that way I don't go in thinking that it could suck because it doesn't link up with what I think the sequels should be, and I have strong ideas of what I think should happen.
Because I'm a total geek that way.

Here's hoping the movie is better than that terrible, boring, generic title.

Nostalgia aside, are A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi any better?

I lol'ed at this comment:
It turns out that Midichlorions are sentient. That one is named Tom. (He is a very odd Midichlorion)

RotJ is pretty bland, but I quite like the other two. Then again, I'm one of the few people who actually thought "The Phantom Menace" and "Attack of the Clones" were good titles because they captured the throwback serial vibe that George Lucas was going for.

And so it begins.
I actually think that the internet will break on the day this movie is released.

I like it. I also like that this movie is flying under the radar for me because of all the Super Hero Movie hype. It will be a pleasant surprise in December next year.

It just reminds me of The Force Unleashed. That's not really a connection I wanted to make with the movie, unless they also plan to do some ridiculous "pull a Star Destroyer out of orbit" scene as well.

So is any verb paired with Force as its object going to remind you of the video game?

I don't remember being that force powerful in KOTOR.
that's what I liked about it, you couldn't crack a planet in half with your force enhanced gas or pull a fleet out of hyperspace.
But you could choke the crap out of someone or hit him with lightning.

Sounds like they asked a bunch of elementary school kids to name it. Very video game-esque. Doesn't seem like a space opera title, whereas the others do (as corny as they also are).

The Force Unleashed. The Force Awakens. Similar meanings for the same thing, basically. You can see how it's easy to make the connection.
Surely they have enough creative people there that they could have done something a little more interesting for a title, even without the connection I made in my head on this particular one.
Captain, the problem with the Force is kind of like Dragonball Z where it's an arms race and everyone just gets more and more powerful. ("The midichlorian count is over 9000!!") Since we're going forward in time and not back to the Old Republic, the Force is probably going to get more ridiculous and not less.

I hope not, making the force mega powerful is the ultimate cheat.
It killed a bunch of the earlier EU stuff, when Jedi Apprentices were flinging super star destroyers across a star system.
Or Jacen turning into a luminous being that disintegrated the leader of the Vong.
One of the best lines in the whole trilogy took place in the Phantom Menace when young Anakin gushes, that nobody could kill a Jedi, and Qui-gon sadly looked at him and said "I wish that was true"
The force give precognition in fights, heightened speed and strength and it allows you to move objects, and it can give some visions (Palpatine and Yoda and Anakin).
But the minute that they make it so utterly powerful that they can basically wipe out thousands with a wave of the hand it becomes a cheat because the only way that you can beat that is to have someone with even more power.
I mean the whole "Size Matters Not" was really mis-interpreted by the Star Wars universe, and time after time hack writers and hack comic book writers took full advantage of it when they got cornered in their story.
I mean I kept waiting for a Jedi to jump in front of the super laser in ANH 40th anniversity DVD and block it with his lighsaber, and then make a crushing your head motion to destroy the deathstar from the planet.

Maybe Abrams can do a Star Trek / Star Wars crossover. Jedi vs the Q.

If the title of a movie is its downfall it's probably not a very good movie in the first place. All of the titles for the first 6 were similar but 3 of the 6 were masterpieces while 3 were dog crap.
