Plus if I were Beth I'd probably thinking there ain't half bad. Food and safety - I'd be in for that. Better than starvation on the outside.
I assume the guy that got away is the dude that Darryl had in the bush with him at the end of the last eppy.

I suspect it is pretty good if you enjoy rape and being a "comfort girl".
I was a bit meh on the episode, but part of that is because Beth is not a character I have enjoyed/liked.

I honestly didn't clue in that the cops were the people who found Beth until she walked past the parked cars and you could see the crosses on the back windshields. I thought that was very well done.
I thought there was still another group out there, and the cops saved (or found) Beth from them.
And why did she want to kill the doctor?

Once again they have a neat idea and they just skim it high level. Plus this episode should have been included a while back. How long has Beth been at the hospital? a couple weeks max? In that time the other group has regrouped, found terminus, destroyed terminus, and wandered over to a church. O_o

She didn't, he tricked her into doing it so there wouldn't be competetion for his spot at the hospital.

I think he means at the end of the episode where she was talking towards the doctor with a spike in her hand, then we see Carol on the gurney.

Was really looking forward to this episode, filling out the mythos and Beth's storyline, but it just felt oto disjointed.
The characters didn't seem fleshed out (thank you Jiri) motivations we're sketchy. And hey, if your going to be all confusing, at least go Terminus style and be uber creepy.
I really didn't get the episode at all, and it wasn't for lack of trying. A poorly done episode, which is sad, cause they need to bring their storylines together in a way we can believe.

Definitely did not need a full Beth episode, not only is her character boring but her acting skills are very shallow. Bringing Carol in means we will now have to bounce back and forth between 2 or 3 groups for the rest of the season.. ugh.
It started out so well.

Yes. That is what I hate about this. Multiple stories being told starting from the same point in time. It's so Tolkienish.

I actually didn't mind that episode. Would have liked the rapey-cop to be a bit more subtle than over the top villain, then it would have made some sense to overlook his misdeeds since the female cop would have needed everyone she could get.

She wanted to take down the hospital. Right now their system is to find people in trouble (I imagine maybe even cause that trouble in some cases) and save them. The saved individuals have to work off their debt, which is impossible, before they are freed. Without the doctor, they can't save anyone.

I took it more as she was disgusted that he would let a doctor, a healer, die because he was afraid he would become expendable and be turned out or killed himself...certainly could be wrong though.

I'm disappointed the groups are all split up again. The show is, at it's core, the story of Rick Grimes, and every episode without him is invariably weaker than the ones with.

I really liked how Beth killed the cop. I always enjoy seeing them use walkers as weapons. Other than that, though, the episode was pretty awful.

The show has always struggled when it separates from group story progression and focusses on character side stories. This episode just happens to be one of the worst in the series to date. I don't read the books but the whole hospital story is just terrible and Beth simply isn't a deep enough or interesting character (not to mention Emily Kinney is one of the worst actors on the show) to have the spotlight.

Before this episode, people were praising the rapid story progression. Who's to say that this Beth stuff won't be completely resolved next week?

I doubt it will be resolved. They have split into three groups now (the church, the Washington road trip, and the hospital.) I'd imagine we will have dedicated episodes to each group for the rest of the season. At least the first half.

I only watched a little of the Talking Dead on Sunday, but the actress who played Beth seemed very much more engaging and with it. Makes me think that part of what we are seeing as "bad acting" is really just a bible thumping sheltered teenager dealing with this new life. (Keeping in mind her character is now still only 18 years old.)

TWD goes 3 for 3 to start this season, which is totally unprecedented in the history of this show, then whiffs once (not even really badly in my opinion) and now everything sucks again. that's how you can tell it's a forum of hockey fans...
I personally enjoyed the change of scenery from the constant forest/broken down abandoned rural structure. and as negative as the reviews for Beth's character are here, that forced lollipop scene was so fantastically creepy that I'm happy to have that as my one takeaway from the episode.

I didn't think the episode was bad, really.
I've long maintained that in a zombie apocolypse that the most dangerous thing isn't the zombies, but other people, their lack of reliability and their fickle nature.
Exploring all these different scenarios where it's actually the people that need to be feared vs the largely disposable zombie corpses makes for better TV in my mind.

Maybe but I just find her wooden at times and not convincing. Maybe it's the character and it's that's the case the I just don't buy that character.

I think it's the character. She was fairly sheltered and approaches situations very cautiously.
I kind of think she is another Skyler type character, where she is acting how a normal person would given the situation
