If this affects anyone, be the reasonable guy who goes to the meetings and follows up with suggestions. That's way more likely to work in getting a big piece of dedicated green space right behind your house, which is probably nearly/just as good as having a golf course.

They should offer parcels of land to the homeowners along the course to purchase, since the view ain't free.

I don't think its a done deal, according to the herald article the rezoning has to be approved by the city Certainly not every re-zoning application is approved.

I wonder if he was a given a contract to that effect.

All in all, 14-15 years is a pretty short lifespan for a golf course.

The contract question is a good one. The Shawnee course guaranteed original home buyers to operate for XX amount of years. Once those years were over, they could redevelop and they did.

Curious if something similar applies here, or if the original purchasers had no protection and just assumed the course would always be there.

Judging by how this has unfolded publicly, I would assume the latter. Buyer beware etc. etc.
