QOTD: Who is Josh Jooris?
The man was victorious in a thrilling battle for 35th ranked Calgary Flames prospect this summer, edging out the likes of Sena Acolatse.
Became a name in camp, but honestly for most just a neat little side story and not a prospect to be taken seriously.
He scores in his first game and then pretty much disappears to the fourth line, then to the press box.
Reappears on this road trip to score twice in Montreal and play almost 19 minutes and set up with winner in Washington.
Who is this guy in the Flames plans?

Poll to come?
He's a guy, like Bouma, who plays with heart. He's got good wheels, a pretty good shot, and some decent hands. He knows where to play without the puck, and makes some things happen with the puck. He's a very solid all-around player that should be a 3rd liner for years.

He's an everyday utility player, that will be a stop gap top 6 with injuries but provides some pop for a 3rd line on a regular basis.

Reminds me of Shean Donovan for some reason. Not quite as fast but with more sandpaper to his game. He's a great partner for Bouma out there as he has the hands & speed to make good plays from the chaos Lance leaves in his wake in the offensive zone. Reminds me a bit of the Niemo/Donovan energy line we had in 2004.

His development is mind-blowing, no one had this guy on the radar two or three months ago. So glad that the Flames have rewarded him for his great camp and he certainly ran with it. If he can keep the hard work up, I can't see him going back to the AHL. I see him as a 3rd liner long-term

He reminds me of Glencross, well early Glencross. Strong 3rd liner now but I can see him moving into a top 6 role in his future. He's a strong energy guy that will compliment any of the small skilled forwards while still being able to play at a high level.

I think I heard on fan 960 that Bob Hartley compared him to Mike Keane who he coached while in Colorado. No idea how he compares, in any case he's a revelation this year. Hope he can keep it up.

Looking at him last year, I wondered why he left college with a year to go. Now he looks like he has a career, maybe something like Glencross'. He's a nice surprise for sure.

Should have another option: International man of Mystery!
He's a feel good story that's coming true and he'll play on the third line with the ability to step up if need be. Next generations Glencross.

I see him like a Sean Donovan type of player. He will likely settle in an ideal 3rd/4th liner, that can play up on the 2nd line and be reasonably productive when called upon.
At the risk of inducing some eye rolling, I am not all that surprised by his progression. He was pretty impressive last season in camp and went on to have a really good year in the AHL. He was one of the players that I pointed out as being worried about falling down the depth chart after we traded for Bollig.

I thought he was going to be a Bouma 2.0, but he's faster and more skilled and has a higher upside (3rd liner like you mention).

He was a prodigious offensive star in Ontario as a kid. Put up solid, if unspectacular numbers in the NCAA. Any idea why this guy wasn't drafted? Did he have a late growth spurt or something?

I think he is the perfect 3rd liner for us, who can move up to the 2nd line if need be.

I'm eating crow right now.
After watching him all last season with the Heat, I didn't think he'd be much, but sure enough he looks outstanding. Right now, he's at that point where the adrenaline of being in the NHL wears off and his mind switches back to 'normal' hockey mode. The key will be whether or not there's a change in his game. If there isn't, I think Feaster found us a diamond in the rough.

The story of why he didn't get drafted into the OHL was that he was super tiny at 15/16.
He would have been playing tier 2 Jr A in Ontario during his NHL draft year which is not a highly scouted league (or really that good of a league) compared to similar leagues in Alberta/BC.

Right now he is playing like a 3rd liner that can move up to the top 2 lines when needed but I think he will settle in as a 4th liner then can move to the 3rd line when needed.

Watching him, I see a "fun" sweeping his face after plays. It's not analytical, it's not a grimace of concern, it's usually satisfaction. He's out there having the time of his life. I even daresay he is experimenting and messing around. He may slow down, sure.
I'm excited to see if his style of play will complement Bennett. I bet they have to tie Bennett down to keep him from practicing after watching all these exciting games.
