I enjoyed the game for the short time it lasted but I'm on the fence on whether I should support their cause by shelling out more money for what's already on the disc I paid full retail for.

Source? I was aware that significant portion of future content was already created and locked off, but not in the same sense that they're waiting 6 months and then unlocking the DLC after payment.

I read it at gamespot but if you google "Bungie admits DLC on disc" or something like that you will find a few links.

Iron Banner even briefly opened last night, only to be taken down shortly after. Too bad. Must have been a glitch. I got pretty excited when I saw the event come up. Looks like we have to restart at Rank 0 though. Good thing I kept my banner, shader and emblem.
In terms of repetitiveness, yeah, I got sick of strikes super quick. I would say I got sick of them faster than most. I think last time I checked, I clocked over 100 hours in to this game easily, and still have under 50 strikes under my belt.
That said, I still play Destiny like crazy because I do love the PvP. The controls are just slicker than most other PvP FPS. Also, the fact that CoD is advertising its *new* double jumping in PvP as a big thing seems so silly to me. I've been able to do that for a few months in Destiny (and I assume PvP in the Halo series, though I haven't really played those).
Looking forward to the Dark Below. Especially the new PvP maps.

I think COD mostly took the double jump, and other new movement options, from Titanfall, but your point stands.

It's not my argument, but I've read it a few times (maybe even from someone here!):
Bungie is releasing portions of the game already on the disc, as DLC content, to extract a sort of "subscription" fee, from console gamers not used to paying to a monthly fee to play. The game is all online, so I would imagine it's costly to keep all the servers running.
In a PC game like WoW, people pay a monthly fee to play online. Destiny will offer DLC content essential to the story line, ensuring most people pay Bungie's version of a subscription fee.

Seems like Bungie's response does fall in line of a standard plan of extending a title over a long time period. Looks like a big chunk of the negativity (on-disc DLC topic withstanding) is the fact that most people are unsatisfied with the current content in the game and facing the cost of adding similar, non-crucial content is frustrating.
It hasn't even been two months since release and we're looking at a slow but sure exodus of players. There's so many things that Bungie needs to add/address/fix/change that I'm honestly concerned what next month will be like once the new content is released and beaten within a week only for another 3 month wait.

Ah. I never ended up playing Titanfall. Destiny is the first FPS where I really played PvP actually. Before that it was all single player or co-op for me. I think Destiny appeals to me because I can't hear anyone talk about how I suck lol.

Ya I'm going to give the DLC a try because I've already got the pass, but if it's just more of the same bullet sponge strike bosses and a few overpowered weapons from the new raid that completely ruin PvP for a few weeks then I'll be checking out of the game long term

So ticked off. Got an exotic weapon bounty, but I need to get guardian kills with a void weapon to get it. I need 500pts, and I get 3 points per kill and lose 1 for every death. At best I have a .5 K/D and with void weapons it's about .2. There is no way to get there in a million years. Grrr

Just go ahead and abandon that bounty, it's so not worth it. The worst is yet to come in the final step, where you have to do a lvl 28 version of the Phogoth moon strike and wait during the final battle until a special boss appears and kill him, total bitch to complete. And to top it off it gives you Thorn, one of the worst exotics in the entire game. Many legendary hand cannons are far superior, so there is literally no point in going through that grind to try and get it

Yea, don't bother with that Thorn bounty. I think it would only be tolerable if you had a void primary weapon. Only one is Atheon's Epilogue, which you can only get from the raid.
I've really struggled to enjoy the PvP in this game. I keep saying I want a big game battle mode, which I remember from the Halo games. Something like 12 v. 12, vehicles, big maps with control points or flags. That's a little more my style. I can understand that some like the intense competitive style, but there seems to be no variety. Also, the thing that absolutely destroys my enjoyment is supers. If I die, I want it to be because I was beaten in a fair fight, not that I happened upon someone whose internal super meter just happened to charge before I ran into them.

Oh god the thorn bounty. By far the worst of them. I hated it. I only had a void fushion rifle and trying to get long range kills with that is extremely frustrating. I'd also suggest dropping it until you have the proper weapons to do it with. It drove me absolutely insane. I've actually never even used the Thorn ,I just wanted to collect all the exotics(11 so far). Worst part is I got atheons epilogue like a week later.

Am I the only one that didn't mind the bounty other than maybe the last part? Being a voidwalker helped but doing well in Crucible was enjoyable enough.

Yeah that was the very first exotic bounty I ever got. And I was terrible at PvP at the time. Probably same as you. 0.5 k/d or less. So I abandoned it
I'm kinda hoping that it comes around again though because I think I could do it now with a void fusion. I've gotten pretty good with a fusion in the Crucible.
Also, Lv 28 Phogoth doesn't seem that bad. It was the Nightfall Strike a few weeks ago. I remember it being pretty easy so long as you camp out the entrance room. Actually I think those three wizards were harder than Phogoth, and they weren't even too bad. Just took a bit of time.
