hmm Poirier must be real close if he is a potential option:
Diana C. Nearhos @dianacnearhos
Huska hopes to have a forward (Poirier is close and might be an option) but could consider playing a dman at forward

This is Baertschi's time to shine (how many times have we said that?). He needs to pick up the slack while the team's 2 best offensive players are out of the lineup.

Well it is an opportunity, but I dont have too many expectations. I don't think he's got a lot of talent left around him. Unless Poirier is back. So great if he can lead the offense, but I don't think I will be disappointed if he still struggles. Just my 2 cents.

I'd assume he'd line up to the left of Reinhart? He's a great minor league player IMO.
But yeah, agreed on the RW spot. Don't know who'll be there... and Poirier will likely take a few games to get into the groove of things.

interesting tidbit from Rob Kerr on the radio, Flames prospects when called up from Glens Falls drive for 3 hours to Montreal and then take a flight to Calgary.
don't fly through Albany like many speculated

Makes sense. There are flights every hour or two that will get you to Calgary, fairly directly, out of Montreal. Whereas their are only a few options every day to fly from Albany to Calgary and most of those routes will have you flying east or south before flying west or north.

But surely you can get a flight from Albany to Montreal or Toronto - gotta be better than driving

Glen Falls to Montreal driving shows 2:45 to make the trip.
United Airlines and US Airways flies from Albany to Toronto it looks like 4 or 5 times a day. Flight is 3:45 in duration and stops in one of Washington, Newark or Philadelphia. Some even have two stops and is a 6-14 hour flight trip. There is no direct flight.
Same story for Albany to Montreal. United and US Airways both will fly, but there will be a stop in another city and at least a 4 hour plane trip (some show up to 7 and 8).
That's not including the hour it would be to drive from Glen Falls to Albany.
Having the prospects drive out to Montreal makes more sense. They will be on a plane to Calgary/wherever the NHL Flames are quicker.

The only cities with direct flights from Albany that also have direct flights to Calgary are Chicago, Minneapolis, and Newark.

The Adirondack Flames found their 12th forward. Brodie Reid (four points in five games with Elmira) is on the ice.
Brodie Reid 25 year old 6'0'' 185lbs right shooting RW
http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=18244
according to the ECHL transactions page he has been loaned to Adirondack

Kulak has been assigned to Colorado per the AHL transactions page
http://theahl.com/stats/transactions...&f_team_id=400
This is after Cundari was cleared for contact today.

I'm baffled. Unless they want him to be the #1 in Colorado. Not sure why it was him instead of several of the other D.

Haven't they been rotating Kulak and Culkin into the lineup for the last few games?
With Cundari back, it makes sense to send one of the rookies down so they can both get more playing time. Culkin has 4 points in his last two games, so it makes sense to keep him in Adirondack for now.

Only players on ELCs can be assigned to the ECHL freely. Flames have Acolatse, Potter and Cundari as veterans on a really young group. Most likely they rotate bodies through to give them additional playing time while keeping vets in AHL to mentor the kids.

The Flames have been lucky that haven't had any D-men injuries on the main club. Once that happens that will lessen the glut of defenseman on the farm.

I forgot about that little quirk. Aren't Stevenson and Yonkman also vets, or do those players that are on AHL deals not have the same protections?
