Question Gaudreau's Trade Value

So with all the hype, highlight reels featuring Gaudreau this season, no doubt other GMs are taking notice. What could we realistically get in return if we put him on the trading block?

No doubt this would be against popular opinion on CP (yeah, i've seen all the gifs and fan shops), but lets not forget Treliving's/Burke's Mandate to get bigger and stronger. Keeping a 5'9", 150 pound Johnny is contradictory to their message.

I'd hate to see him get hurt later in the season and have his trade value diminish. Trading him now or within the next 10 games would be the best scenario for the Flames. Although waiting till the trade deadline would maximize a return, it's always risky when you have a player as small as him to remain healthy. Imagine getting a 1st rounder (and possibly more) from a guy we drafted in the 4th round

Which would be the team Johnny could fit well with and what would be a realistic return from that team?

Discuss!

I gather that Gaudreau's trade value starts a McDavid + Crobsy and then we can talk?

Similar to the 2015 1st rounder. We don't know what we have yet, so why even talk about it?

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

You want Johnny's trade value? It's so outrageous because no one in their right mind would trade him right now or a couple of years from if his play keeps improving like it has.

If anyone came calling I would hope they ask for their best players, maybe a pick or two and a prospect. Make it so far out of the realm of reality that no one would want to pay the price.

Long story short, Johnny won't be getting traded until he hits his UFA years and even then I hope every effort is taken to keep him. and only then will we know what his trade value is.

We are not discussing it because it is absurd.

You're right, he's not big and strong. Game changing skills and vision be damned, we must fit the mould!

I somehow think they'll accommodate this small player in to their plans.

In unrelated news, Barbecue has been placed on waivers.

I don't think any other teams would trade for him right now except for crap. They'd see him as unproven. And they'd be right.

I don't think the Flames would trade him - too popular, too much upside. And they'd be right.
