I'm probably annoying people with how much I've pumped up Bennet... But he's probably going to be the bench of the bunch. He's so Damn good.

Yup, the real test will be against the stronger western teams (LA, Anaheim, San Jose, etc..) Montreal is a solid team, but they're not at the same level as the elite teams in the west.

Last year we trolled LA pretty hard, chased the Ducks out of the Dome 7-2, and won the season series vs Sharks, so...

2011 alums Gaudreau and Grandlund combine on a goal, 2010 pick Brodie not getting on the score sheet but basically making the play happen. Oh happy day.

Brodie was a 2008 draft pick.
I agree with your point though.

Gaudreau is so good I find myself a little disappointed when he doesn't make something happen a few times a shift. Great start to the game.

Anyone else a little surprised by the amount of Flames love from the CBC/SN crew? I get that the Habs looked terrible that period and the Flames are a nice story this year, but damn was Hughson ever gushing over them in the 1st. Maybe it's because I'm used to the team being (deservedly) shat on in years past, but it was a little surreal to hear my own internal hype being echoed from the TV

The people that harp on his size ignore his agility. He does the spin at the boards automatically and so quickly that he readily avoids hits. I've noticed Patrick Kane does this fantastically.

The said thing about Johnny is that in a year, the plays that lift us out of our seats will be expected and common place and we'll be saying "boring do something new man, do something new"

So, Gaudreau is proving people wrong again.

Would love to see him pot one tonight and get that offensive confidence going.

Yeah, I was watching him in his own end as well and there's a clear difference in his positioning. Really want the kid to succeed and hoping he forces the Flames to keep him up permanently either this call up or the next one.

This is what is starting to bug me too.
10 minutes and not one surprising turnover or deke later and I'm asking "Is Harley even playing Gaudreau?".
I feel so guilty. I'm getting spoiled by watching Gaudreau and it's only November.

What i like about Gaudreau is how much he makes me laugh.
Exclamations of laughter when he does what he does.
It's like he can't be resisted, it's just 'lol, gaudreau' every so often.

This is such a huge injection of skill having Johnny on the team. It doesn't take long in games lately for teams to start to panic when he has the puck. It's especially a fire drill when he is carrying the puck through the neutral zone with speed.

I'm loving the contributions we're getting from found money honestly. Gaudreau/Brodie will be core pieces for a long time, pretty good return for 4th rounders. Byron was pretty much written off, he's one of our better forwards now imo. Jooris was supposed to be an ahl plug, he has gone and cemented a role for himself on this team. Of course these players pale in comparison to our captain, easily one of the top 15 defensemen in the league. The amount of value we're getting from left field is paying tons of dividends for us. Imo, these players have already put us a year or two ahead in our rebuild.
Seriously, if Brodie was a top 5 pick would any of you be unhappy with how he's playing? If Monahan and Sven can step up to their potential then this team can do anything.
Again though, the California teams will be test to see if this team is for real. Hard to not be excited about this team though.
