Coyotes must be tanking since they're the first team to lose to the Canes tonight. Or you just cannot win them all. Or in Carolinas case, just cannot lose them all.

Lindholm potted two though. He's going to be good, he's just set up in the wrong kind of situation.

Remember when some people on here thought we should cough up $7m and sign Semin? Good times.
Different situations usually present different circumstances, I could argue that Semin would at least looked engaged and would try a little harder under Hartley.

Carolina's been a hot mess for a few years now, Semin was brought in to help the Staal's, not lead the team. Never was or is that kind of player.

One hell of a support player though. Still has one of the best shots in the league.

That contract was right up there with Clarkson for one that a team would regret. Semin's put out effort for about 1/4 of the games in his career and they signed him to a five year deal.

Somebody replaced Pavelec with a lookalike who can play goal in the NHL.

Reimer stole the two points for the Leafs tonight, for sure...

I am mildly irritated, however, about Toronto's GWG...Rule 43.1 says absolutely NOTHING about the position of the player being checked in relation to the boards...according to the HNIC analyst's opinion (I'm not sure who was calling the game, I was watching the NHL network feed, and it was the HNIC guys), "if Oduya was closer to the boards, that would have been a penalty..." If I am interpreting 43.1 correctly, it should have been a penalty anyway...

Not to say that the 'Hawks would have pulled it out, Reimer deserves full credit for the win, with 46 or 47 saves, and the Toronto D did just enough to box out on 2nd opportunities....The 'Hawks continue a pattern of wasting scoring chances.

It was a wildly entertaining, uptempo effort for both teams...

Kiprusoff was the first goaltender in NHL history to get credited with a shootout yet still lose the game

In Philly IIRC. Carter scored the shootout winner I want to say as well.

Now for the battle of "Are we sure there isn't a way they can both lose?"

Although, every win seems to inject the Oilers Hope engine with Nitrous, so I guess a win for them is best for the status quo.

The show is set to begin, folks. I wonder if there will be some jerseys on the ice tonight.

Draisaitl skates from one end of the rink to the other. Oiler fans now think it's the right decision that he stayed up.

Later, when he doesn't do anything all game again, they'll think it's the wrong decision.

Do any other arena announcers announce how many points the player has?

"Eberle with his third of the year, 8th point"

Or is that just an Edmonton thing?

I've personally only heard that in Edmonton. He says it more and more excitedly as the season goes on too, when point totals start to add up.

"Deeee Oiiiers goal, his THIRTIETH POINT OF THE SEASON!!!!!, scored by Taylor Hall!!!!

Hall gets blown up trying to drive wide on Tanev, goes hard into the goal post and has left the game.

edit: leg injury.

Edit #2: he is done for the night

Oilers are a top 3 pick for sure if Hall is out for a while
