What is the present situation for people wanting to acquire season tickets to watch the Flames?

I only go to a couple of games a season anymore. The atmosphere of going to the dome isn't worth $100+ on most nights.

I bought Press Level tickets this year without being on a wait list. However, I think if you want 2nd level or (especially) lower bowl seats you'd have to wait a couple years to get your chance to buy.

Yep, same here. Half the times the nachos are the deciding factor whether to go to a game or not.

I'm not really sure what you guys are talking about. I've had a very different experience than you, both this year and last. The dome has been rockin. Also I love watching hockey regardless, but hey that's just me I guess.

I enjoy it too, but after paying for tickets/beer/food its just too damned expensive. On top of parking or transit and the commute to and from the Dome is a hassle.

I can have beer brought to me and a meal at the pub down the street for a tiny fraction of the cost and be home in 5 minutes.

I've caught 3 games on this home stand, Carolina, Montreal and Nashville. 2 in the press level and Carolina in 2nd bowel. It has honestly been awesome each time. Crowds have been good, lots of noise, a few Chants per game and overall great atmosphere.

I recognize the cost is high for many, but the effort on the ice, and watching our new core develop makes it worth it to me.

I can't imagine attendance will be full for a couple more years, when the team takes that next step and playoffs, but I think the Calgary crowd has done a decent job supporting the fan base through a couple years of the rebuild so far.

On another thread, there were a couple of people who just joined the hothouse and were offered 2nd level season tickets right away -not the premium ones, but still...

Agreed...last year had many great games. The crowd was rocking due to the efforts put forth by the players. Compared back to the old Feaster days, the hockey is night and day different.

At seat relocations I have seen little opportunity for improvement the past few years within the same price range. And stepping up a price level, not insignificant, the sight lines don't warrant the additional expenditure.

The 2nd bowl seats available are not the best

Good, I'm happy the dome is not selling out anymore. I vowed after the last lockout that I wouldn't give a dime of my money to this league. I have kept that primise and have only attended one game since the lockout and only because it was a work event. Perhaps others are beginning to realize the cost to attend a game is outrageous and not worth it. Tired of my hard earned money going to a money hungry league of greedy billionaire owners and entitled millionaire players. When you consider tickets, parking/transportation, beer, food, maybe a souvenir, you are looking at minimum $150-200 a person.

I drink a lot of beer yet I am pretty sure from what I remember I've never spent 150. You must be quite the alcoholic, I salute you.

I mean ya if you want lower bowl seats or decide you're buying a new jersey you might spend that. But you can get second bowl seats at 30-50 bucks, another 50 for a snack and a few brews and you're only looking at 100 bucks, though I will readily admit I have yet to attempt the 10 heroin beer challenge.

If you want to drive and pay for parking that's your perogative but there are plenty of free parking spots on the street if you're willing to walk a few minutes.

The cost of attending is really just the ticket and transportation ($6 total to take the train). Everything after is your own choice, so don't cry about the Flames taking all your money when it seems the real problem is your own lack of willpower.

Where are you finding those?

I just bought 2nd bowl seats yesterday for the Detroit game in early January, and they were $175 each. They weren't even a good location like center ice either... they were towards the corner, 201 maybe?

Detroit is a bad example as it will be a higher interest game. But generally, you would be able to get good prices on the less interesting games on the secondary market.

The primary market is still fairly strong. Consider what is available for the January 2 game against the Islanders right now: http://www.ticketmaster.ca/calgary-f...4&minorcatid=9

Two months away, and there is only three spots in the lower two bowls where you can find four seats together - two of those are obstructed view due to being right by the players benches. But, this is also undoubtedly a game that many people will skip, and could end up like Friday's was in terms of turnstile count. That will depress he hell out of re-sale prices.

With regard to the rights to season tickets, I recall years ago you could acquire the rights from someone for a price, depending on the seats. Immediately after the Flames won the SC in '89, some of the rights to the lower bowl and choice 2nd level seats were selling for very hefty prices i.e. in the many thousands of dollars. Then when the "Seven years in the Wilderness - Young Guns Era" came along, you could acquire the rights to those same seats for nothing by just paying the ticket price.

However, because of the significant growth in the population, the rise in the Canadian dollar etc. it may be futile to wait for that to happen today. Also, I believe the trading in rights is much more restrictive today. Does anyone know the official policy of the Flames on the trading of rights?
