I read when this first broke that Navigator is probably THE go-to company in Canada when you need some massive reputation management. Says something when companies like that tell you your money is no good to them.

You don't keep the reputation of being a top reputation manager by taking on loser clients.

If you haven't yet checked out #BeenRapedNeverReported thread on Twitter, you really should. It is a trending topic in Canada which is a sad statement.

Maybe it's the same thing as being a "loser client", but if he had the dough to make it worth their while, they'd keep working for him. I've been a shameless corporate shill myself, and I know that as long as the money keeps rolling in, blind eyes will be turned.
This guy ain't going to make a nickel anytime soon, and (even though I'm sure he made some real loot at the CBC), he won't be able to afford anything like a swank PR firm for long. He's literally not worth the trouble, but if he was worth the trouble, they'd take the trouble.
And now it's time for a lame pop culture reference -- that crappy movie "The Devil's Own" was on the other night, and in one scene an overacting Keanu Reeves was shouting at Coach Craig T. Nelson that he wouldn't be able to defend him if he didn't tell him the goddamn truth!
This sorta reminds me of that. Jian didn't tell them what they were getting into, and when they figured it out, and figured out that he couldn't pay them (I read somewhere that they bill $600 bucks an hour, which seems kind of low) they dumped him.
In the movie, Craig T. Nelson was able to afford it of course, and Keanu was able to get him off. But as we all know, this nefarious business brought down the forces of heaven and hell on his life and beautiful wife Charlize Theron, so in the end it wasn't worth it.
And it was also all a dream, so I guess this nonsensical post is going nowhere, but it's got to end somewhere, and somewhere is right here, with the period at the end of this sentence.

His pattern of behaviour could have accelerated into a serial rapist type situation like Paul Bernardo. He needs to seek medical attention.

Now that he has been stripped of power, the dirt is flying.
CBC staff allege 95% of his "essays" were written by ghost writers.
Gina Wicentowich @ginawicentowich
"Staff had a code word they used when they were asked to book guests who they suspected had slept with #JianGhomeshi" http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/behind-the-cbcs-decision-to-fire-ghomeshi/article21396998/?page=3 …
“You’re on this crazy ride so you just deal with Jian’s perfectionist attitude,” said Mr. Tunnacliffe, who is one of the two minds behind at least 95 per cent of the trademark essays Mr. Ghomeshi read at the opening of each show. (Although the essays were often attributed to Mr. Ghomeshi, most were written by Mr. Tunnacliffe – who now lives in New Brunswick and writes for the show on a freelance basis – or Sean Foley, another former producer, who left the show a few months ago to join As It Happens.)
One staff member, who agreed to speak on the condition of anonymity, said one question she has repeatedly faced since the scandal erupted is how the voice on the radio, who portrayed himself as a feminist and sensitive, can be accused of such things. Her response was simple: He was often “reading other people’s words.”
“Can you really stand up to a guy whose 20-foot-tall portrait is on the side of the building when you’re not guaranteed work beyond next week or month?”
Former Q Intern Questions CBC’s Lack of Action
http://headspacepress.com/former-q-i...s-lack-action/
“So, did Jian Ghomeshi try to sleep with you?”
This was the first question the then-Director of Current Affairs for CBC Radio in my hometown asked me the first day I got back from a 6-week unpaid internship at Q in Toronto. Her question, asked in front of a small group of co-workers in an open newsroom, elicited gales of laughter from all assembled. Because, you know, back then, it was funny what a reputation Jian (or JG, as he was known in Q circles) had for being a total sleazebag.
Let me be clear: Jian Ghomeshi never tried to sleep with me during the time I spent at Q – in fact, he barely acknowledged my existence, except for once asking me to use the Q Twitter account to congratulate him on being voted one of the sexiest men in Canada by Hello! Magazine. But that doesn’t mean I, like everyone else, heard plenty of stories about his behaviour.
The stories were all the same – meeting women at CBC-related events, then creeping them on Facebook. Hitting on interns and junior staff at CBC. Grabby hands. His targets all fit a similar demographic, very young, starting out in “the industry” (be it journalism, modeling, music, etc.), and usually a fan of his show.
Knowing his reputation, the network should never have put me, or any other female employee, in that position.
Carleton University is investigating his relationships with Journalism students:

S**t is about to hit the fan at CBC, and I would not be the least surprised if some of the woman file some kind of class action lawsuit against the public broadcaster, for tolerating a toxic workplace, where sexual harassment was ignored.
It seems like everyone at CBC knew about Ghomeshi's deviant behavior around woman, yet it was a big joke. Troutman, what do you think will be the end result of this, legally speaking if a bunch of woman file a lawsuit against the CBC for tolerating this type of behavior?

That would all depend on what the CBC actually knew, or reasonably should have known.
Also, it could be union members can't sue the Mother Corp?

From what I have read and heard, people who engage and get sexual pleasure out of performing violent acts against women, and then do not understand, or ignorant to the fact that they have done something wrong, are usually sociopaths.
From people I have talked to that took social work or psychology, personality disorders, like narcissists, sociopaths, etc. are very hard, if not impossible to treat, especially if the patient is older than 30. I should know. At one point in my life, I was in a 18 month relationship with a woman diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. Despite her erratic behavior, she refused to follow through with treatment, which ultimately made me terminate the relationship.

I'd lean more towards the issue being that he didn't tell them the truth of the situation, rather than he can't afford $600/hour. As someone said earlier, he probably doesn't even have an understanding of what the truth of his actions really are (not excusing him AT ALL, but I'm sure he has it all justified in his mind). Countless women coming out now with assault and harassment stories dating back years and years is on a whole other level than a BDSM relationship gone wrong with a vengeful ex. Difficult to develop an effective PR strategy when the whole situation explodes in your face because your client is parcelling out the truth as needed.
The other aspect that I'm sure the "top PR firm in the country" considers is: will representing this sleaze-bag cost them other, more lucrative clients. And if the answer is yes then they would have no problem dropping him, regardless of his ability to pay his own bills.

Was it not common knowledge that the essays were written by staffers? No individual person has enough time to do all the required research and writing that goes into the show, so I've always assumed there's been many "behind the scenes" staff members who handles much of that. A few years ago, when he did a live taping in Calgary, he even admitted as much to the audience.

The whole ghost writer thing is a non-issue. It is no different than talk show hosts doing monologues. Most of them have writers that do the work. It is really about the delivery.
Jian Ghomeshi may be a sleaze bag (I am not sure, but it is looking more and more like it), but he was good at his job.
It's like Michael Jackson. He may have been a pedo (alleged, lots of anecdotal evidence, nothing confirmed), but he was a good performer.

Would it also be an issue of what complaints were officially made and filed? If there was a lack of official grievances and complaints surely a pretty easy defense for the CBC would be "we can't act upon rumour"?
