I'm in the same boat but I agree, he has been unhittable. You almost have to force them to make the defensive play there and hope they can't.

Boo. I can go back to not caring about baseball now! First time in 20+ years I have watched major league baseball. The Royals were a great story.

Just felt the odds of making it home were better than the odds of getting another hit.

I think he would have been out by alot. He was at 3rd when the ball was relayed in.

Plus at that point after bobbling it twice you know the outfield was nervous, force them to make that throw.

When I first read your comment I disagreed but I think you have a good point there. If thrown out at the plate, the guy would have been quite the scapegoat.

For a team I once said would never make the playoffs again--hold your heads up high, Royals. That was a great run. Bumgarner... what a beast.

Now the 3rd base coach will be. If theres one thing we know, passionate and gutted fans need a scapegoat.

Yep, it's too bad there wasn't a speedster that hit that to make it interesting.

Gotta send him home on that play. Before that at-bat you would take that chance 100% of the time. Defense faltered twice already on the play, make them make the play. At the very least you get a collision at home and I don't think it's automatic at all.

While Bumgarner was ridiculous, he was at nearly 300 pitches for the series and 270 innings for the year. At some point you think he'll make a mistake. He sort of did on the hit but the bad play is what caused the possibility to go for. Probably gets thrown out by a lot, but even still you're almost compelled to go for it just because you force them to make the play.
And we have our first World Series champ from the Wild Card game, and the second Wild Card team at that.

I know nothing about baseball, but talking with a friend jokingly said that the Royals would make it to the World Series game 7 but lose, because that's what Cinderella teams do. Strange how accurate that's been over the years in any sport
