Assuming that even was his current number, why would Fanattic have any inside scoop on Baertschi's future?

Lets just say this is a bad sign.
It's been mentioned already that those Jerseys are 50% off because he switched his number back to 27 in the off season.

That is great to hear because if Baertschi is going to play in the NHL, it is probably going to have to be in a top 6 role where he will have to learn to play against the more difficult match-ups.

I was just about to lump Reinhart in with Baertschi as disappointments early on. I think Rhino should be scoring at least 0.5 PPG in the AHL along with Sven. That should be the minimum expectation of players of their calibre, pedigree, and experience.

Now that being said, I know a handful of games is too small a sample size, and all players go through slumps in a season, but I think it's very troubling if BOTH of them aren't scoring at a 0.5 PPG pace by game 20 or so.

The excuses for these guys are many, but they're growing pretty thin at this point. Has anyone thought that Adriondack is struggling BECAUSE these two (among others) are not playing as well as they can? They're not seasoned veterans necessarily, but they should have enough experience at this level to be leaders. I will say that if Granlund and Ferland can do it with a lot of other guys not playing well, they should be able to put up points as well.

I agree with Reinhart but in his defense, he does lead the team with 26 shots and has 0 goals which strikes me as unlikely to continue.

Orange Julius guy now works at Fan Attic.

Or also works at fan attic......hmmmm.

In other news Cammy jerseys are on sale so he is probably not being re-signed.

It would actually be a great success based on where he was drafted and the depth of that draft. Just look at the guys picked after Sven and you could still make the argument that we took the best forward.

The only people "disappointed" would be from those who held ridiculous expectations of him and were swooned by his draft +1 junior year. We had people saying he was "special" and could be a franchise forward based on the absolute desert the Sutter had cultivated. Fans were eager for some hope and optimism and along comes a guy who takes the next step in his draft + 1 year playing on a powerhouse team. As Flash said, when you're a 7 surrounded by a bunch of 2s and 3s then fans will tend to have an overly rosy view of your potential.

I wonder if Sven will get a look of both Colborne and Stajan are hurt? I get the feeling Granlund and Ferland are ahead of him in terms of a call up.

Considering the love for Sven and the way he played in the 11-12 season it is pretty surprising that of the 4 prospects we have from that draft he could be ranked 4th on the list. Gaudreau, Granlund, Wortherspoon, Baertschi

i really hope he gets the call up. I always had this feel with him that if he could get some positive momentum he'd be able to grow off that. Getting the callup could be the positive momentum he needs to build off.

It is of course unfortunate that he hasn't been able to create/stimulate his own momentum in the AHL when he's been sent down.

Instead of piling on, i'd prefer to just give him a shot on the team, where he really wants to be, and let him run with it for a while as the roster manages some injuries.

It really depends how long colborne is out for. Sven can fill in on the wing. If stajan is out, id say granlund is up.

I don't see Sven getting the call up at this point. He's not a RW and when Colborne has been on the wing that is the side he's been playing. I think that Granlund will be getting the call. I think he's more versatile and could play in any role given to him. I wish Sven would get hot and make it almost impossible for the team to leave him down in the minors and put an end to this debate once and for all.

Would Sven being called up be based on the meritocracy that everyone wants?

Honestly, if Sven gets called up, I won't be very happy. Ferland and Granlund have earned their right to be called up before Sven.

He was more-or-less the last player cut from camp. In that sense it follows that he should be one of the first call-ups. Huska's comments have been very positive about Sven, despite his lack of production on the farm. It's hardly nepotism if he is called up before Granlund or Ferland. Any of those 3 deserve the call.

Conditions for meritocracy have been met.

How long does the bolded part hold true? I was happy to see Huska's comments too, but, at the end of the day, I think it's who has been performing in the first X games of the AHL season and while Baertschi is apparently doing the right things, there is a line in front of him.
