I agree, its mostly a hopeful resolution to that storyline. Anyone from the group would be happy to see either Beth or Carol and gauging from Daryl's expression its definitely someone new, perhaps someone from the hospital or Morgan.

I don't think that scene showed the group taking pleasure with that masacre at all. For Rick it was as he said, didn't want to waste any bullets and a personal vendetta with Gareth, his character changed completely when his son was in danger in the previous season and had to do whatever possible to save them from that situation. He seems to be a man who will do anything, regardless of the brutality to keep his people safe. But by the expression from the rest of the group, Maggie and Glenn for example, there was no pleasure in their expressions after what took place in the church.

I think that was a way to show how much the Terminus group had been watching Rick and riends. Early in episode 2 Daryl makes mention to being watched or followed, them letting the group know just h0w much they knew about who was left after Rick left reinforces that.

Shoulda finished him off when he could.
And hasn't it only been a few days since theyve been at the church? No way Daryl could have gone all the way to some city and found Beth and been with her for "a while". I guess a while could be subjective.
|
Or it could be that Daryl is recounting his time with Beth after the prison, before she got taken?

I'm glad they didn't spend a lot of time with those terminus crazies.Last couple of seasons have dragged by with no real movement.
One quick question have they even gotten out of Georgia yet?

I don't think so. Herschel's farm wasn't far from Atlanta, and the prison wasn't far from the farm. After the prison, they all walked to Terminus, so I don't think they've gone too far.
In the preview with Beth in the hospital, it looks like the Atlanta skyline out the window.

Nope. If you look at a still shot of the map to Terminus, it is actually Macon, Georgia. So they are SE of Atlanta currently.

It is really encouraging that they don't seem hesitant to move the storyline right along. This show has really re-piqued by interest. Thoroughly enjoying the season so far.

I have a fear that the Beth storyline might derail the season. I hope they aren't going all Hostel/Human Centipede on us.

Yes! I feared the storyline of the terminus would end up being some long drawn out borefest but they really did surprise me by quickly moving along from that.
Impressed with the season so far, very impressed.

Ahh yes. This is probably correct.
I wonder if he will mention to Rick in a good ol' guy talk over a couple beers that he had a chance to nail her, but didn't.
Silly Darryl.
I also keep waiting for him to nail Carol too, but I guess this isn't an HBO show.

Did they make any significant changes this season to their directing or producing? Because this show seems to be moving way faster in three episodes than it has in 3 seasons..
I like it.

Yes, there were some changes to the show. Glen Mazzarra was fired as show runner and replaced with Scott Gimple.

I think Scott really saved the show. I really enjoy when they have him on as a guest on Talking Dead because you can just see in his eyes and in the way he talks that he has this clear vision of how the show should be. And if the end of last season and this season is any indication, he's really been hitting it out of the park.

What is a "show runner". It is literally the fella that runs the show?

Well to clarify, I believe Scott Gimple is the head writer, not the "show runner". I would consider the show runner to be the executive producer, which is Frank Darabont.

Essentially. Sort of how like Vince Gilligan was the vision and driving force behind Breaking Bad, even though the writing, production, and direction came from a team. He keeps the story on track towards its goals.
I think it's easier for artists like Gilligan, who don't base their idea on source material, to see their project all the way through from start to finish. Working off a novel, graphic or otherwise, probably means your position is pretty precarious if you're unable to translate that source effectively to another medium, like TV.

Darabont hasn't been actively involved in the show since early in the second season (he still gets an "Developed for Television by" credit, I believe).
Mazzara took over from Darabont, and Gimple replaced Mazzara after season three was completed. Gimple was the show runner on season 4 and continues to be for season 5: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/liv...mazzara-406144

This is the pacing and eventfulness from episode to episode the show should've had from the start. Seasons 2-4 had too many painfully slow episodes that didn't impact the storyline in any way. Since the comic has been going on for 10 years, I'm sure there's more than enough story to keep things moving this briskly.
