So is it to early to call Sven a bust? 8 games in he has 1 point and is a team low -9. Love Sven but the Flames drafting history is littered with "Sven like" draft picks.

Fingers crossed he can turn it around....

Too early to call him an outright bust IMO, but the clock is ticking for sure. It is probably time to get those expectations in check.

He is falling down the depth chart pretty quickly.

obviously too early...but to those bashing the organization for not gifting him a spot on the team well, the numbers speak for themselves

I think he will do well in the nhl, just with another team. He needs a change of scenery and I think he'll be part of a deal soon

Sometimes the fit between a player and organization just isn't there. I fear this is what's happened with Sven. It seemed like he was a lot better when he had a little swagger. He doesn't appear to have much swagger left. Burke isn't big on swagger.

I think he has given up on the Flames at this point as he probably thinks the Flames have given up on him. I'd like to see him traded soon for both the Flames and himself.

I wouldnt be shocked in the least if he went to another organisation and produced for them, and hopefully the return for us would turn out as well.

I agree, he seems like a shell of what he was before Burke came down on him. Shame because I think the kid has real talent.

Kid looked so promising. It would appear he's lost the desire but haven't seen him play. Is he working hard and not getting breaks or is he floating?

Because new management came in and decided to make a statement using him. Then they decided they wanted him to be a different player.

I get the feeling he is going to be traded from the team before he breaks out. The hype was so big and expectations exploded. He has since been passed by a few younger players. Perhaps he gets one more look with the big club to give him a shot or showcase him.

Larson or Gormley are trade targets I would shop Sven for

Him, fans, and his dad can blame Burke all they want...1 point and team worst plus minus rating in the AHL.

Maybe Burke was right and he needs to work on his defensive game and maybe just maybe he isn't as good as we all thought

I would blame former management for How Sven has turned out so far. They gave him the keys to the kingdom way to soon. He can and will turn it around though.

Also when Sven was sent down just after Feaster was fired , it was just as much Hartely's call on the send down.

The same Hartley that benched him for no reason eight games in and started the derail of his season? There's a shock.

Being a minus player by no means indicates that he has played poor defensively.

From the games I've watched, it's been far the opposite. He nor his linemates are scoring and they are getting little to no puck luck. Even with 3 more ES goals for, his +/- returns to near the team average (he's also been on the ice for a couple of EN goals against). I think he's been very unlucky not to have at least a few more points.

With that said, he is focusing too much on positioning in his own zone and it's costing him a lot of what made him special in the first place.

The common rhetoric needs to stop. He's just fine defensively. He's consistently the first player in on the backcheck, he isn't making dumb defensive plays or turning the puck over. He's been conservative.

I don't blame Burke but it would seem that was the turning point. Lets be honest if that was enough to kill his confidence he has way bigger problems than Burke.

Last year he was terrible the first few weeks after they sent him down but got really hot to close out the season. If the Flames do decide to trade him lets hope he can catch fire beforehand so we can get a decent return.
