With the rash of injuries to defenceman league wide, wonder if he will get claimed by a philly or Boston.

Boston is familar with him so that would be possible.
Hope he clears though, need a steady vet on the farm.

How are Philly and Boston sitting for contracts. Philly I think is pretty close to the limit, hence why they have not been able to do much yet. In a lot of cases trades work better than waiver claims due to the contract limit.

According to capgeek Bruins are at 46 (47 if Pastrnak's contract doesn't slide)
Flyers are at 45 contracts plus 4 contracts that will most likely slide.
One reason Potter may pass through is he missed all of training camp and has no games under his belt thus far.

He was on the IR. It was expected (and now confirmed) that he'd immediately go on waivers for assignment to Adirondack when he got healthy.
Should be a good thing though- the baby Flames are in dire need of some veteran d right now.

I seriously doubt that Potter is going to be claimed. If Philly and Boston were that desperate for a veteran defenseman on a cheap one year contract, they'd have signed one by now. Ed Jovanovski, Carlo Colaiacovo, Joe Corvo, Mark Fraser, Derek Morris, Douglas Murray and Sami Salo are all unrestricted free agents.

I only seen him play a couple of times for the Oilers back then so I don't really know much about him. According to a lot of people here at CP, he is a defensive liability and they were not happy with the signing. Being injured before the training camp might shy away some team in claiming him through waiver. I thought Boston let him go after last season so I don't see them going after him.
He was put on waiver because he probably just got off the injury list and need conditioning in the AHL. Is he better than Raphael Diaz? If he is, then he'll probably be back with the Flames as a 7th D. If not, then he'll be in Adirondack for the rest of the season unless they need to call up a defenseman due to injury.

Most of the Oilers fans felt he was their worst defenseman
