The largest Canadian flag in the world has been loaned to the REDBLACKS for tonight's football game (from Hamilton). This your night Ottawa, show the world what is to be Canadian

Unfortunately Islamophobia is probably in for a big spike as these types of attacks are more than likely going to keep happening. Almost impossible to stop these lone wolf attacks, and the response from the usual crazies will be to up the hate.

It lightened my mood; remove the image from the quote and I'll gladly do the same

Meh. The good, decent people that will go clean off the paint far outnumber those crazies that painted it.

Its just that the crazies tend to get more media attention.

Very fitting that Canadians will go clean it up. Flag in my avatar isn't there for no reason at all.

Even all this rah-rah chest thumping, Canadian nationalism is getting to be a bit much. Don't get me wrong, I love Canada and am very proud of my country, but a lot of the stuff recently has turned this into an "us" vs. "them" sort thing as if because the murderer was a Muslim, he's all of a sudden not a Canadian. Unfortunately, he is one of "us" and in reality there are hundreds of Michael Zehaf-Bibeaus out there that have slipped through the system. This is a Canadian problem as much as any of the other politically or ideologically motivated crimes committed in Canada in the past. We need to look within for answers to these problems.

I agree. These guys are technically terrorists because the attacked the state, but are very different from the sort of globally master-minded terrorism we've seen from Al Qaeda and others. There's no sign of masterminds at work in either of these incidents.

That's not to say there is no connection - it's pretty clear both were inspired, perhaps even encouraged to take action by Islamic radicals. But these locally born, raised and radicalized individuals are a local problem. We can shut ISIS up but they will be replaced by another.

I'm curious if the US networks will cover the Highway of Heroes aspect. In the past there has been some mention and I hope it is picked up again.

There was a school shooting in the US today. This story is pretty much dead there at this point.

Also, I am a bit upset that in all this WO Vincent has been forgotten.

Not much chance now. Watched CNN at the top of the hour, and Canada did not get a mention in the first 4-5 stories.

School shooting obviously, Ebola in NY, and the hatchet man in NY will keep CNN busy for days I imagine.

Painful to watch their coverage of any of these stories. Not a fan of their style i guess.

I agree. It's an emotional reaction and the memorial is supposed to be for "the soldier" as an entity, not an individual.

I cannot speak as a active member of the armed forces or veteran...so this is my civilian opinion.

But if someone died defending my grave/memorial I would be ok with them being recognized at the memorial.

Sign it or don't it is a free country
