Would a memorial to the fallen soldier (Cpl. Nathan Cirillo) be appropriate at the site of his falling? There is something that makes me think that the fallen Canadian soldiers would want this man to be honoured with them since he died 'guarding' them.
Just a thought.

Watching CNN, Fox, NBC, etc (basically any US media) ...it's driving me nuts how they keep on saying "Ottawa, Canada" rather than "Ottawa, Ontario." Yes, it's the same thing, but they never say the name of Provinces in their reports.
"Vancouver, Canada"
"Toronto, Canada"
"Calgary, Canada"

Pretty disturbing actually.

“If you can kill a disbelieving American or European – especially the spiteful and filthy French – or an Australian, or a Canadian, or any other disbeliever from the disbelievers waging war, including the citizens of the countries that entered into a coalition against the Islamic State, then rely upon Allah, and kill him in any manner or way however it may be,” said al-Adnani.
“Do not ask for anyone’s advice and do not seek anyone’s verdict. Kill the disbeliever whether he is civilian or military, for they have the same ruling. Both of them are disbelievers.”

Try living in the States and having someone say 'I know Bob Smith, he's from Canada- do you know him?'
I understand the frustration. Drives me insane.

Yes. With zero challenge.
You can go one better and walk around inside as a visitor on a guided tour.

We do exactly the same thing. How many times have you said or thought or heard on the news "Paris, Île-de-France" or "Sydney, New South Wales."

Fair enough. Just irks me, is all. GMG.
Don't want to get too off topic. Watching Anderson Cooper now, and it came up.

I find Canada's coverage of the US coverage a bit... I dunno... silly?
"Shootings in Canada reported on US and International networks" on the news scroller on CTV.

Can someone explain that impact to me? I just don't get it. I actually feel bad for her. The kid was born and raised her in Canada and to me that's one of the more terrifying things about these last two incidents...both Canadians who wanted to join in. Someone earlier in the thread said that ISIL was "coming", but the problem appears to be that they don't have to come here at all.
Just a terrible tragedy and senseless loss of life though. Unbelievable action by Vickers to put a stop to what could've been a lot worse by the sound of things. That guy is a national hero, along with the fallen soldier.

I don't think there's anything actually unique or attractive about this group's philosophy, other than that it's a justification to do violence. Disturbed people looking for an excuse to do harm to others find a convenient group to align themselves with, and then they start to reinforce the ideas of this group in their own mind in order to come up with a justification for the violence they already wanted to do.

I guess, but you know, if the guy was born and raised in Canada then you can't send him anywhere, right? That poor mother though.

If your trying to make the point that people in Canada are getting murdered because of Israel, just say it. You will join countless other groups who have blamed the Jews for every problem.
Without that revisionist history, you will clearly see a massive battle between Sunnis and #####es, lack of human rights, lack of education and the obvious state sponsored hatred infesting the region. These are pretty clear root causes of what is going on.
Only once they provide respect for minorities, all sides, this won't stop.
As a nation and with our allies, Canada must continue doing what is right.

I think it's just that she's a high ranking government official. C'mon, this is a lot different then, say, his mother was a taxi driver.
