If anything, Hartley should be extended another 2-3 years.

I agree and don't underestimate your bolded point above. As the leader of the group he really does seem to care about the guys, not just as pro athletes on his team, but as people. He always emphasizes what a good person so and so is (ie. 'he's great at such and such play on the ice, but more importantly, he's a great person') and it doesn't sound like he's just spouting off a cliche. IMO this goes leaps and bounds to continuing to create a culture where the guys are working hard not just to win, and not just for their next contract, but for each other.

Hartley better get an extension. I don't think there is any other coach that knows how to work this team like Hartley.

Also, with St. Louis playing in NY, is there anybody in the organization left that was a part of 2004? Owners have changed, management has changed, coaches have changed, the entire roster. Flames still have a lot of personnel I think that was still a part of the '04 run (owners, KK, scouts, etc). I wonder if there is anyone at all in Tampa now from their run.

Feaster is back there in some capacity

I agree Hartley has been a great coach for this team. Best since Darryl IMO especially in terms of consistency game to game.
I think Burke has to let Treliving make the call and Brad wasn't about to hand out an extension without getting to know the coach. I do think Treliving had to give Hartley a fair shot when he took the job but from all accounts he is very pleased with Bob and I fully expect an extension to be done between US thanksgiving and early in the new year

Hopefully the Lightning press hard early and tire themselves out while we weather the storm. Then, as has been the case this season, we can turn up the intensity in the second and third and out work them for the win.

If Engelland can become a contributor we'd be looking in really good shape. I'm not sold that Calgary is a bottom feeder and don't think Mcdavid is the answer. Let's see how the boys do against a pissed of Tampa team.

Love that Hartley is putting gaudreau with Monahan and Raymond. Calling for a Monahan snipe after a beautiful move by gaudreau.

Setoguchi could probably use a stint in the minors to try & get his confidence back. Seems like the kind of player that only performs well when his confidence is high.
If Jooris sticks in the NHL (fingers crossed he will) then Setoguchi to Adirondack would make lots of sense for everyone. The Baby Flames could use a RW to replace Jooris & I sincerely doubt he gets picked up on waivers.

What's the rush? It's 7 games in. I think people should prepare for the fact that there's a good chance Hartley is not going to be a long term coach for this team.

Weekes is awesome. He knows what's up.
I hope he's right, that this team is for "real". I'm also curious as to which GM said we're a pain in the ### to play against..

Hoping it was Sutter and the LA Kings.

Long term coach and a coach to mentor the kids and instill work ethic in the veterans through the rebuild are two different things. I think most are hoping for the latter at least. A two or three year extension if things go well the next couple of months and then go from there once we start to contend past the first round of the playoffs.
Is he the coach to go all the way? Who knows, but so far he seems like the perfect coach for the rebuild.

Looks like their trying to jump start Monahan!

Agree Setoguchi should go down to the AHL. Getting back up might be another matter as Granlund, Ferland, Baertschi and Reinhart could be in front of him - unless he finds his game again.

Finally, they're home again! I missed the home opener so I'm really pumped to finally see them for the first time this year.
And oh. Mony, Johnny and Raymond on a line together!!?? Hell yes.

First game back after a long road trip , one in which they overachieved.
The opponent they are playing underachieved last night.
Most of the time, not a great recipe for success.
