Stantec is an EPC, I can't see them spending all that much on a building.

Oxford took a few brokers out to do a marketing piece on this building and some additional information form their takeaway package is below:
I know that people want a “cooler” design but traditionally the big tenants in Calgary that sign leases (Oil & Gas, and Engineers) want efficiency over aesthetics. Trying to design a functional office build out in an odd ball shape is difficult and there is always unusable space left over that you have to pay on. Don’t just blame the Landlords for these boring buildings, some blame goes to the tenants.

Am i reading a different article? It clearly says Stantec will be shorter than the bow. Which is shorter than our tallest Under Construction which is rumored to be shorter than our tallest proposal... it might also be shorter than telus sky and SEC...
Maybe next time Deadmonton.... maybe next time....

This is rumoured to be 262m tall - taller than 247m (Brookfield place), which will also be taller than the Bow (237m)

a partner in the development joint venture said the Stantec tower’s height was determined by office market needs and elevator capacity
"Office market needs"?
So they're planning on consolidating all of downtown Edmonton's office workers/space into one building?

Which, Oxford? Based on the diagram J Pold posted, I get ~247m.

Someone apparently in the know over at SSP says from his source that's what the height is gonna be.

It would have to be a very tall floor-to-ceiling height to reach 262m (as rumoured). It appears to be 54 floors. Likely closer to 220-230m. ~4.0-4.2m per floor. Unless they're adding a few floors...

I wonder if increasing the floor-to-ceiling height is actually the most economic way to get to higher heights without exceeding the FAR cap.
Come on man, tell your boss we want 50 FAR!

that floor plan needs some revising. As someone that has worked in an open office design I can't stress enough how you need to create more meeting space and filing/storage areas.

I'm really hoping the design will be modified, as they usually are to some extent right up until the time the project breaks ground.
Did Oxford really need a foreign architect to design that? Pretty sure the plethora of talented architects here in the city could have come up with something just as good, if not better.

It's a tough one...on one hand we have the OG companies to thank for even having skyscrapers, but on the other hand they are the squarest bunch of squares that ever squared.
And while I understand the desire for standard floor plates, the position of them doesn't necessarily have to be standard or stacked up in the same boring uniform way. Buildings can still have nice crowns, shifted in angle, tapered, etc etc.

I think this is one of those times where the children really could have designed something better.
