I think maybe I saw an oops or I'm totally wrong.
Did Glenn not have his watch on him in the train car? The same watch that one of the termites was carrying that tipped Rick off?

The highest rated Sunday nighter so far this year (Saints/Cowboys) merely ties Walking Dead's 8.7 18-49 rating.

Anyone else recognize the kid (slim shady) Rick & Carol came across in the house when they were on a run?
Rick gave him his watch so he knew when to be back, he never came back and Carol gave Rick her watch and then they went their own ways.
Carol also picked up a watch in the 'souvenir' room when she got Darryl's crossbow.

I really enjoyed that episode, but it felt disjointed compared to the season finale....like we were missing a big chunk of the story. I almost checked to make sure that I was actually watching the premiere.

Well there was a lot of close up and slow moving shots thay required actual props. I did still catch a few cgi blood bursts in there. But I do agree it looked somewhat better overall. Dunno if it's a change or just the way those scenes were shot.

NFL's ratings might be suffering a tad due to all the recent scandals. I don't know what they are historically though, just a thought.

They mentioned it on Talking Dead. Pretty cool tie in.

Just finished the premiere…amazing. Really went farther and darker with the Terminus people than i was expecting. I don't think the fight with them is over by any stretch…there's a lot of them still alive. Something tells me we will see them again this season.
Eugene makes me laugh. He totally doesn't seem like a scientist, but he does seem like he's quite intelligent. However, he clearly doesn't have any skills to fight zombies, so he might be telling a story to try and get everyone else to keep him alive. Something just doesn't seem right about him.
Every time I think this show doesn't have anything more to say or do it surprises me. I'm looking forward to this season.

They also mentioned he plays the Penguin on Gotham!
Edit re: special effects - I feel like Walking Dead has always done a good job with the gore. I think Nicotero has been using the fake blood and animatronics for most of the show where possible. I still remember when they ripped the guts out of that guy in the well lol.

I think they showed Maggie holding it. Totally forget how she got it though. But yeah, someone was looking at the watch in a train car.

Wasn't it the watch that tipped off Rick that something wasn't right in the season finale? He must've grabbed it at that point and then gave it back to Maggie/Glenn when they were all in the rail car.

Really enjoyed the episode.
I agree that we havn't seen the end of Terminus people. I think/hope we get some back story on their "leader" the man with the ledger. I seems that he took a significant turn in his approach to survival.
I had one issue with the show and that was Carol's mortar she used to blow up the tank. It seemed well too lucky that she hit it first time. I small thing I know.
Our PVR cut off right when Rick took his daughter into his arms.
What happened after that?

Re: mortar. I thought the same thing at first but I think it was a firecracker that maybe ignited the gas that had ventilated into the air? Still maybe a bit far fetched but more believable than just leaving a rifle up against a fence and having it randomly make a perfect shot on the tank itself.
Re: after Rick gets his daughter back. Morgan (from the pilot) is also back! Brief little teaser showing he was also going to Terminus but then runs into ricks recenty altered sign saying to stay away.

Do people really get upset about this kind of thing?
She had a bag full of fireworks, would you have prefered they showed her missing a dozen times just to make it more real?

I think "upset" isn't the right term.
I am more than willing to suspend disbelief, and have said that in thie thread a number of times, often to Bertuzzied, hehehe.
It won't stop me watching the show, but I think they could have taken a couple of minutes to show that it wasn't a first shot type of thing.
I wasn't going to mention this but hell why not, when they show the big man and the baby leaving the shack at the end, there is no walker jammed onto the post anymore.

I thought it was realistic. First, if it was other show she would have just fired her rifle at the thing once and it would have exploded. So for realism they had her fire a few shots before one finally penetrates the tank and causes the gas to leak out. Then she shoots a firework in the general direction of the leaking gas and it explodes. Seemed logical to me as it's not like the firework had to be a direct shot anyway.

I guess my judgement is clouded by how bad I was targeting a mortar.
Again, didn't spoil the show for me really, enjoyed it. I must say I was surprised they showed a front on view of the throat cutting.

So, the bad guys who were torturing Gareth and that lady in the flashback scenes... any non-comic book readers have any thoughts as to who that might be? Seems to suggest there are some even badder bad guys out there who could end up being the Big Bad this season.

I took it that they killed off those people, and that it was some time ago that it happened.
I don't think there is a shortage of gangs of bad guys, so we should be ok.

On Talking Dead, they said the crazy tattooed guy who was in the one train car was the same guy at the end who tells the Termites that it won't be okay.
Because it's so dark, it's hard to see his tattoos in the final scene, but they do appear to be there.
