It would've been nice for the American crowd to see the likes of Ribery, Müller, Schweinsteiger, and Robben

It's been an awesome week here in Portland. Both Bayern Munich and the MLS players have been very accessible, and there have been a ton of activities around town.
I'm bummed I couldn't get a ticket for tonight, but I'm happily watching the culmination of a great celebration of soccer in a great soccer town.

I had this recorded and just watched it last night. Man Pep is a real piece of work. He pretended to not know who Caleb Porter was in his press conference too.
The Alonso tackle was boneheaded, and should have never happened. Johnson's first challenge was clumsy, and he obviously regretted it, and his second was more him losing the ball and trying to stand his ground. It was barely a foul, let alone something to melt down about. So glad Bayern lost.

I went away for the weekend, and watched the TFC game last night when I got home. Little did I know they completely blew things up and almost transferred Defoe over the weekend.
If this doesn't pay off and they slide out of the playoff picture, they should fly in Danny Koevermans to come back and call them the worst team in the world again.

Leiweke's departure and the subsequent issues at TFC are another manifestation of the Rogers/Bell power struggle.
As for Defoe, he was an ephemeral acquisition on the pitch anyway. Leaving will be a PR disaster for the club and demoralizing for the fanbase. But as a "MLS Super Club", TFC should be able to get his caliber of striker pretty easily with an overpay.
I thought the key to the rebuild (not rebrand) was around Bradley anyway who looks to be hurt and has been pure class in his statements since Nelsen's firing. Compare that to cricket sounds of Defoe who'd rather take full advantage of his family's benefit of all you can fly between TO and London.

Gilberto finding his scoring touch and putting up 6 goals has certainly helped. And having Dike back on the team will add some secondary scoring. Bradley really is the General on the field and leads this team.
But TFC is really hurting on the back end with Caldwell and Morrow still out.

I don't understand the endgame for Defoe... He wants to move back to a crappy club like qpr or leceister to battle against relegation? Looks bad for MLS and TFC but they shouldn't have any issues getting their 6 mil back for him with 3.5 years left on the contract.

It's a real battle when it comes to which Toronto sports franchise is the most pathetic. Every single team in the running and with history galore to help determine the worst team. Even the newcomer to the game TFC are absolute masters of stupidity.

It really is a shame. Toronto FC have been in "you just can't make this stuff up" territory before, and this is another chapter.
I know that Westerners generally like to look down our noses at Toronto in general, including sports. But I really like the city and I think that they deserve better. It is just one joke after another.

2-0 win for the caps today. I don't understand why more managers don't try to sign cb's who can score goals off set pieces regularly. I'd pay a premium for a defender who chips in several goals a year off of corners and free kicks.

I think I hate the Whitecaps more than the Canucks.
Neither team looked very good. I sometimes wonder if I could play in the MLS.

If you can kick a ball then you could play striker for the 'Caps.
Big win tonight! Jumped over the Timbers for the final playoff spot.

Great result tonight! Keeping the Cascadia Cup out of Sounder hands is priority #1 every year.
Now, If the Whitecaps would kindly proceed to lose the rest of their games, that would be great.

Yup, Caps/Canucks analog is just about right with all the flopping last night. Negative soccer hurts the game's reputation with the time wasting and fake injuries but if the ref allows it, you can't blame the Caps for playing a "perfect road game".
Frustrating loss but I guess I have to be satisfied with the Open Cup and an opportunity for SS and MLS Cup.

The diving was not a one sided affair. Both Dempsey and Martins were flopping too.
