According to the AHL transactions page, the only player Adirondack has sent to Colorado so far is Curtis Gedig:

I posted this in the game thread, but I think this bush league sh*t should be posted in this thread.

Here's the Trevor Gillies incident from tonight:

Honestly, I've met Trevor. He's a pretty decent guy. Always a nice guy off the ice, but I want this guy nowhere near my team. I stood up for him in the past by saying he could change, but this sh*t is just brutal. In the real world, that's an assault change.

I hope he's released soon.

^^ I am a fan of the 'enforcer' role on a team, and this is a good example of what I mean by the difference of an enforcer and an outright goon. Goons should be kicked out of hockey completely. I think it is absolutely despicable, and an embarrassment to the team that carries one. Say what you will about fighting in hockey, or even enforcers in general, but there is absolutely no support by me (nor should there be by anyone) in a team carrying an outright goon. Gillies is doing nothing but 'gooning' someone.

McGrattan is an 'enforcer', not a goon. There is a difference, and that difference is huge. I would rather the Flames had retained PL3 if they felt they needed an enforcer.

Well said and the truth is, this year's team is plenty tough enough with Ferland, Wolf, Yonkman, Sieloff, Acolatse, Tousignant,Van Brabant, Sieloff...

They don't need this guy. He's clearly one of those guys that just can't control himself once he steps on the ice. I would hope that Treliving, Burke, Paschall or whoever makes the right call and let's him go.

If they need a tough guy isn't there some FA available? Team toughness is decent.

Puck Daddy on Gillies: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-pu...065553920.html

Quote:
From the Democrat and Chronicle:

"I felt my head get picked up and pulled down," Carrier said. Carrier wasn't injured. He even maintained afterward it was no big deal. "That's hockey," he said.

He learned from teammates that Gillies could have done serious damage to him. "They said, 'Well, you survived,' so that's good."

His coach found no humor whatsoever in the goon move.

"If there's room for that in hockey, I'm not sure I want to coach anymore," Chadd Cassidy said. "It looked bad; you spike a guy's head into the ice."

This was a fun but painful game to watch. Ortio will improve once he views the video tapes. Most of the goals were due to bad positioning. Basic stuff. Can’t be down on your knees and deep into the crease before the play takes a final direction. The forwards were ok but I felt they were not for checking hard enough. Other than the Agostino goal, I don’t feel there was total effort up front. Rochester was brilliant. They made it very hard at their own blue line. The forwards like Varone and Grigorenko were on their game. Gillies was not the only dirty player. After this fight, Rochester tried some of their own nonsense. When the line brawl started to gain some ground, It looked like Tim Schaller sucker punched an unsuspecting Cundaribut then paid the price from what I heard, once Cundari figured out he was in a fight. The camera moved away so it was hard to tell what took place but some social media chatter afterwards shed some light. I felt Acolatse had some good moments but some wobbly one’s as well. Same goes for Cundari but he seemed to be the more aggressive of the D with lots of intensity. I’m no authority on the game, but this is just how I saw it. Bad play by play announcing. They need to improve because the 2 teams will meet many times still. They need to learn the players names from both teams, not just their own.

So, what is the difference?

Once again, the Flames beat writer is misrepresenting with her headlines.

Gillies will be suspended tonight due to his instigator penalty in the last 5 mins triggering an auto suspension.

The AHL has not said anything about a further suspension.

What was the other misrepresentation? Seems like maybe a mistake?

She was at the mascot unveiling and the first person to post the picture of Scortch standing over the fallen firefighter with "Flames unveil the new mascot" and then followed up that tweet with "In telling of his story, Scortch overpowered a firefighter. That happened". She had a story up rather quickly after about how much backlash hit the Flames about this unveiling and it was her media outlet that produced the video and ran all of the stories.

The only other time I'd heard about Trevor Gillies was a few years back when he pulled the same crap while playing for the Islanders. When the Heat brought him in I was shocked that this idiot could still be employed in hockey. I figured it was only a matter of time before he would revert to his true character, which has now happened. As a serious repeat offender, he should be out of the game for good. He serves no purpose on the Flames whatsoever, except losing hockey games and losing fans.

pathetic stuff by Gillies, and given that he's the textbook example of a repeat offender I hope that the AHL will suspend him for quite some time. In any case, please just get Gillies off the team. Even though it's only an AHL contract, I hate the fact that there's a connection between the Flames and this guy.
