If you're going to wear a Canucks jersey to the 'Dome, their should be a minimum $30 tax payable in cash upon entry. Nothing is more frustrating then watching the Canucks score and hearing cheers...in our own goddamn arena.

Wideman was horrible. Monahan had a rough night. They have to stop letting him handle the puck on the PP. Gaudreau started slow but was brilliant in the third. Hartley needs to use him more, especially on the PP. I f'n hate the Sedins. Will someone please lay a body on these girls and make them go hide under the bench like they do in the playoffs.

Give it a rest. Backlund had a decent game considering it was the first game of the season and he missed almost the whole training camp.
The LA Kings are also on pace to finish 0-82 and get outscored 328-0 this season.

For everyone that is upset about the game, keep in your mind that the fanbase of the team that just beat us caused (an estimated) $4 - $5 million worth of damages to THEIR OWN city when they lost in the cup finals. Also remember that those cup finals keeps their trophy count at 0.

Backs shouldn't do that. Seriously.

I thought there were a few bright spots (Hiller was good, Russell surprisingly good), but we were the second best team out there. Look forward to tweaks to the forward lines, as it didn't feel like we are getting the best out of any of Backlund/Colborne/Gaudreau with those combos.

RE: Glencross, I think a lot of people seem to make up stuff about him not caring or trying cause of the Chris Drury look on his face. I don't see any credit for him being the one that stole the puck on a great hit (not big hit, but seperated his man from the puck, got a take away) and which resulted in Monahan setting up Hudler for the 2nd goal. I didn't think Glencross was horrible at all.

Glencross was one of the best players out there last night. He had am offensive zone penalty on a forecheck. Whatever.
Guy played great. Only reason we showed the second goal, but haters gonna hate

The Flames looked out of sync most if not all night. The Canucks spent preseason building chemistry with their lines, they cut a lot of dead weight early on where the Flames were (still are) mixing and matching way too much and playing the game of will he or won't he make the roster. It was fun but it doesn't really help you get game ready.
Like most I saw some positives out there and a bunch of negatives. No biggie I guess but I do hate losing to those yokels.

Thanks Street ... I was starting to think I was watching a different hockey game then everyone else, or I was losing my sanity or something.

Gaudreau played great...
My only concern is he seemed to be breathing really heavily after each shift especially the great ones in the third. Of course he's gonna breath he pretty much went 110% and dominated the play for those moments. Do you think that was early season excitement or legitimately how hard he's gonna go all the time. If so, how hard will it be to manage his conditioning in a full NHL season, after coming from the shorter college hockey?
Not criticizing him at all, just wondering if the kid and keep that effort level up.

He's played nothing like a legit NHL pace ever. He played one game in garbage time last year and pre-season. There's going to be a serious period of adjustment physically. It's to be expected.

I wouldn't worry about it. It's his first game at regular season speed at altitude. He'll adjust in a few games.

Not sure why this is such a surprise, Russell played well last year, Hartley seems to be a big fan of his based on his comments, and wearing an 'A' can't hurt his confidence any.

That, Ladies and Gentlemen, was your 2014/15 Calgary Flames.
Lots of fight and effort, but thin on talent and results.
This is pretty much how I expect the season to go. They may beat us, but they'll have to bleed to do it.

^ Locke, I suspect you are correct. The mediocre defence coupled with the pop-gun offence will make stringing any wins together a herculean task for these guys.
Also, they massively out-hit the Canucks, but what will leave a bitter taste in my mouth is that the hit of the night was delivered by stupid Burrows.
Frak.

I tend to defend Glencross as much as anyone, so it is a little ironic that i didn't think he played his best game - at least early. His Corsi from last night supports what I saw, even though he had plenty of shots. But he did make some noticeably good plays in the third. Particularly, he saved the game (at that point) with a couple solid defensive shifts right in front of our net.
