Johnny played great. Yeah he had a bad shift but most of the team was bad the entire game.

Glencross? Opinion seems split 50/50 about him tonight. He was the better Glencross tonight. Lot more effort. Still can be lazy and stupid at times, but as long as the effort is there he can play well. 3million dollar player cant complain too much!

Where were Stajan and Raymond tonight? Absolutely invisible!

Monahan, was supposedly sick but still played. Didn't look to bad. Love his new size, engaging physically a lot lot more. Awesome.

Gaudreau had one bad shift coughing up the puck twice. Yet he is an amazing player, it will come.

Line combinations? Colborne at center is just wrong!!!!!!!!

I expected a loss so I am not disappointed. Wanted a win though!
Yes, but he was taking some crap passes being fired up the boards...almost impressive he could make any sort of play. very excited about Gaudreau tonight!

Stajan is a center on the 4th line, not sure what you are expecting

I only saw the 3rd period but Miller's rebound control was terrible. I'm thinking Lack will be starting more and more games as they realize that Miller sucks now.

Kind of a soft game overall. The flames had a huge size and toughness advantage but rarely finished their checks with 2 or 3 exceptions.

I don't expect them to outskill teams but soft hockey is disappointing, especially when it plays into the Sedins hands, Marchand showed the league how to beat them.

- Brodie and Bouma seemed pretty invisible. Not bad, just meh.

- Monahan looked absolutely bagged

- Engelland played well considering his role.

- Wideman was bad. Bad bad.

Overall, alright!
I would disagree, Raymond was invisible. Hiller made some really nice saves. Some very flashy saves too. I am not a big fan of his but he saved a couple of goals.

Even with all the bounces and the benefit of the doubt from the refs, the Canucks were just barely the better team.
This retooling of theirs could prove to be very entertaining for flames fans as I see a lot of 9th to 11th place finishes in the conference.

I thought the same thing.. Not a good team but headed for a mediocre pick.

Just where you want to see them.

Miller wasn't great, Flames didn't test him

since when do the Flames have a size advantage? they are one of the smallest teams in the league

Why is Hiller always on his knees when the puck is around the net?

It seems to me he goes down way too much.

There were a couple really good examples for Johnny of how you have even half second less than the preseason.

But the kids ability to adapt, and adapt quickly is what sets him apart.

In my uneducated and completely biased opinion, Johnny is going to be a very good NHLer. How good? Who knows. But there isn't any doubt for me any more. He just always finds a way.

The hustle is still there from last season. The timing needs to catch up. That'll take a few games. Bad thing is though, rough road schedule ahead so they need to nail it down faster.

Of the off season acquisitions I thought Hiller was stellar. Not much he could've done on any of those goals.

Engelland was steady eddy. Really liked what he did tonight over all.

Raymond was meh for me. It's clear he's going to need a little time to adjust and get to game speed.

Other than that, Hudler and Monahan are same old same old.

Gaudreau, you can see it, how long until he destroys this league? His timing needs work as well and the period of adjustment is debatable.

Colborne was a stud tonight IMO, again though, timing isn't up to snuff yet.

Wideman needs a confidence boost. I dont think he saw any PP time tonight.

Brodie looks like he's going to hit that next gear this year. This should be a memorable season for him, and it's going to make the Flames pay through the nose on his next contract.

Anywho, Vancouver was beatable tonight, not going to sweat this loss though. Now on to Edmonton.

Exactly what I saw. First period, I'm thinkin.......oh boy, this doesn't look good. The second I'm thinkin, well, not as bad as the first, some good work here. The third had me believing that there might be something good to watch progress, move forward.

Hiller was likely the best Flame tonight

beat by a few bad bounces in a game where his team was badly out shot and out chanced

Canucks deserved the win, but didn't look great.

Thought the Flames looked nervous through the first period and little sloppy for a good portion of the game. I think they need to settle in a bit. That being said, we were better in the face-offs, out hit them, and had more take aways. Keep building on that effort and the wins will come.

Loved the McGrattan bock and the flinch from the Vancouver D man at the end of the period.

Johnny looked really good, hard to not be nervous with his size, but he definitely continues to impress. No one really looked overly terrible to me. Excited to see this team come together.

Faceoffs… How many games last year did they win 60%+ of the face-offs. Faceoffs mean puck possession and less chasing. Should help in 1 goal games moving forward.
