Get your gas at Shell today!
Shell is celebrating 30 years of refining out West by dropping gas prices to 1984 prices at select stations in Alberta. Shell twitter has more details I believe.

You are correct. The pricing is sweet but waiting would suck.
Too bad all my cars are more than 3/4 full.

Maybe for you but not everybody is pulling 6 figures a year. Love the exaggeration on wait time, it might be an hour tops. Ask any college student or some guy pulling minimum wage if waiting an hour to save $40 is worth it.

My Car takes 65 litres and costs rougly $80 to fill. So to fill it at 39.9 it is going to cost about $26 bucks. So +/- $54 in savings. Good deal, but still not worth the chaos.
And in fairness to dissentowner, in my broke early 20's I would be all over this.

Various locations, each location for only an hour. And they will mark the end of the line, so that no more people can get in at that price.

Based on the twitter feed, looks like it's a promotion only for an hour at select stations. You save probably around $0.80 per litre or so? Multiply your tank, there's your savings.
My tank isn't empty, would save maybe $10-15 bucks at most since it's at 3/4 full. Not worth the chaos.

I filled up at Shell this morning for regular, crappy 2014 prices.

Ha, my truck takes 126 litres, and I'm almost on empty.
edit: ah, it's just for a few customers it looks like.

I wish they were more clear ahead of time about the locations. Off at noon today and completely on empty

Any college student making minimum wage isn't going to have a car to fill with gas.
I think it'll have less to do with a persons financial situation and more to do with how cheap they are. I don't make nearly six figures but sitting bored out of my mind in my car in line for an hour to save $40 (that's if you have an empty tank) is definitely not worth it to me. Sounds like a nightmare actually.

The cheap gas is at certain locations throughout Alberta, they announce a different location every hour throughout the day. I think so far in Calgary the locations have been Country Hills and the 68th/32nd
