It is a legitimate question, but one that I fear that we—the general public—are ill equipped to answer or even to begin to assess based on the information to which we have access. In my last post in this thread before yours I suggested that the rhetoric likely has a different meaning inside the dressing room than it does in the media. So, the people who are qualified to answer your question are the players at camp.

Fair enough. My mind reading prowess is limited. Another possibility I hadn't thought of earlier is that all the talk about 'constant evaluation' means the brass were assessing who they want to keep in the organization and, not necessarily, who they want on the big team. Perhaps some trades are in the offing.

Very true

and if you're in Adirondack you have to take notice of the fact that two veteran wingers are sitting out healthy for game one. Good sign.
