Not to mention Colborne, Brodie and Backlund, all 25 or under.

Having a young team doesn't necessitate a bunch of 18 year olds.

And as many have said, it will take time to move out players being replaced, but in the mean time, certain contracts are easier to put elsewhere. It's just a reality.

A good rebuilding team would recognize that our prospects need to be the best they can possibly be, and most of them need more seasoning in the AHL to do that. It's easy to say Baertschi could step in and put up 30-40 points right now but we all know he can be better than that.

Some people won't be happy until the average age on the Flames' opening day roster is competitive with the Hitmen.

I think the better assessment point will be what this team looks like after 1 or 2 months. I suspect that we will see more rookies on this team in due time.
Honestly people focus too much on Day 1 rosters.
I see things playing out as follows with regards to certain Veterans
- They play well enough to justify their position on their team; with attempts to flip the player for an asset at the deadline
- They play well enough to put the GM in position to move the asset sometime between now and Xmas for a return (e.g. a pick)
- They don't play well enough and are put on waivers eventually

Similarly, what happens down in the AHL will also drive action. If Sven plays well he will force the team's hand. If he, and others down there, don't - then there won't be much motivation to open up a spot.

Mix in injuries and things will work themselves out.

Yeah...we need to get more rookies on this team getting the crap kicked out of them night after night, that'll learn them.

Seriously the butthurt zoomed past annoying 2 days ago. There are going to be a bunch of rookies up on this team this year, friggin' patience is required.

Why don't you make this your sign since I have a feeling your going to be pulling it out repeatedly over the next 6 months.

Trevor van Riemsdyk, brother of James van Riemsdyk and one of the top college free agent last spring, has made the Chicago Blackhawks opening day roster.
