I was offered to become a member of the Guardians but have declined.

I asked what the purpose of the group was, if there were powers, how it would help the town, ect. but the only information I received was that my win condition would not change. No other useful information was given to me.

In addition, there did not appear to be a negative consequence of not joining, which also supports what Girly and Starseed said. I cannot speak for the Eternals' offers as it appears the messages are different.

The message was very vague and said I could tell others that things have been explained (they were definitely not), the Guardians seek to protect, and the Eternals are not to be trusted.

That is what the message said, and not necessarily what I believe. However, I wanted to share the knowledge of the message without distorting it in any way.

I took some time researching the Guardians in more depth. It appears there is a "Guardian" move for Pit in Smash Bros that is a protection move; it throws up shields on both sides. Referring back to the very first post we see Pit kill Sakurai to start the game off. I know it's reaching a bit, but maybe the Guardians are caught up with this Pit character?

I am wondering if the Guardians / Eternals twist has anything to do with Rathji's redirected power last night? Somehow the Guardian's are shields of sorts that re-direct powers? Yeah, I'm really reaching here, but the more information out there the better I think.

Anyway, I do agree with Puxlut that some people are really flying under the radar now. However, I stick by my vote for ECF for now based on my prior reasoning that his vote against Matt makes no sense when ECF himself is an Eternal. The more inactive people are coming up on my radar more now - and will be reviewing their earlier posts for odd behaviour.

It seems the Guardians can recruit at will? And thanks to your intell we have evidence that Eternals and Guardians are somewhat rival factions.

I would bet that they can each recruit one per day.

So it looks like the next recruitment would be by Eternals

I would think the guardians would still have their day 2 recruitment available whereas the eternals have used theirs. So expect to see another guardian offer.

Are we agreed to continue to reject all membership offers? What concerns me is when the next eternal offers start to come and we could potentially lose important powers from some townies.

As for today, I guess it's a choice between lynching a 'cult' member in hopes of more information (and because a few of us have agreed on some scummy behaviour from ECF) or targeting an inactive poster who is either not contributing or is mafia lying in the reeds.

Or do the guardians offer membership until someone joins? And maybe the Eternals won't get to pick until the Guardians make the ranks even....

I think so? I wonder if a 3rd invite has gone out since the last two were declined?

I assume each group can recruit 1 person a day. ECF was the recruit for his group today, starseeds group is still looking for a #2

I'm guessing they can send invites until they get someone

I still think the vote for GP has merit but I'm willing to get on the ECF bandwagon. My first suspicion was her first post of the game. Pika thought it was an obvious ploy to ask who was mafia if she was mafia and could have even been suggested by her mafia mates. Secondly she has followed my vote twice. Let's face it, I'm not very good at this game. Chu thinks anyone following his votes is either setting him up or isn't seeing other, smarter people. I can't copy and paste as I'm at a bar in Kona typing on an iPhone. Pika hasn't been contacted by the cults. He's a little sad because of it.

unvote

All right, as promised I created a timeline of the events and my explanations for my actions. I think this should cover your concerns and we can move on.

Tuesday at 10:32 I defended RatherDashing stating that he was out of town and had bad service. I then went into a series of meetings and a retirement party that went late into the night.

Wednesday at 10:05
I logged back in in the morning I had the offer from Mazrim which I accepted after confirming that my victory conditions would not change.
As I caught up on the thread I had 11 votes against me and started posting.
10:34 I posted an explanation
10:36 I asked the group to give me warning and time before lynching me so that I could explain my theories.
11:07 RatherDashing posts confirming my story and stating that he will post in the evening when he has WiFi.
12:15 the votes against me start to pull back and pile onto RatherDashing
1:15 there are 11 votes for Rather and 7 against me
1:23 Someone notices that I am a member of The Eternals
4:15 there are 8 votes for me and 8 for Rather
Rather is lynched shortly afterwards

As you can see, when I logged on I was able to diffuse the situation without revealing the Eternal role. By the time it was discovered the votes against me were gone.

I have stated it already, but I did not want to reveal the role at first because I didn't fully understand it but I thought there were several members that I would be able to discover through their posting. I was planning to start posting phrases from the letter cryptically hoping that other members would do the same so we could ID each other and try to figure out if we were all town or not.

It turns out that I didn't have to try that hard as I was the only member and the list was going to update on page one.

Thanks, and I suppose I can get behind not revealing the Eternals right away. That's not really my issue. In fact to start the day I said I thought you may be light because you wanted to wait for RatherDashing to respond, so I don't have a huge issue with what you did yesterday.

However, today you posted (Disclaimer: Edited quote):

But take a look at some of the posts that were made when you had 11 votes and after you had made your initial posts:

You don't get the luxury of my perspective, but had RatherDashing not revealed he was going to have issues posting the next couple days I probably would have hammered you. And even if I didn't, there were multiple posters who were seemingly advocating your lynch.

You should have been concerned yesterday, I don't know why you weren't and it bothers me a bit.

However,
