To start getting to high levels after you've maxed out your character levels, you need to start seriously abusing your dark ritual. Dark ritual adds 5% to your DPS each time yo use it. To maximize it...

Use all your powerups, then at the end use 8-6-9 (Energize - Dark Ritual - Reload). This will energize your dark ritual, use your dark ritual for a 10% DPS increase, then reload dark ritual cool down to 60 mins instead of 120.

Don't use any powerups for fifteen minutes.

Then use 8-9 (Energize - Reload), this energizes your reload power on the last two powerups you used, and it will remove the cool down completely on your dark ritual.

Another 15 minutes, then use any powerups you like, ensure you end with 8-6-9 again.

If you keep repeating this, you can use dark ritual to increase your DPS by 10% every 30 mins.

Also ascend lots to lock in your hero souls, as they add DPS an Click Damage bonsuses even before you spend them on ancients.

When I used Energize with Dark Ritual before, it still only granted a 5% increase.

I'll double check next time I use it, maybe this was changed in a recent patch.

EDIT: I messed up my screen grabs, but I thought it looked like a 10% jump. I will try again for screens at the next opportunity.

I always use my Powersurge before my energized DR. Powersurge doubles the DPS, let's see if we can figure this out.

Yep, an energized DR gives you a 10% DPS increase.

Interesting. Because it didn't when I did it about 5 hours ago. I was waiting to try it and only got 5.

Dark Ritual is only a 5% increase... Dark Ritual with Energize is 10%

does Powersurge do anything to increase your Engerized+DR 10%DPS increase?

Powersurge just gives you 100% DPS. No Dark Ritual effect.

I always use my powerups all at once, and in these sequences.

Sequence 1: 1 - 5 - 7 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 8 - 6 - 9

wait 15 mins

Sequence 2: 8 - 9 - 1 - 5 - 7 - 2 - 3 - 4

I missing something, my Dark Ritual cool down is much longer than 120 minutes? They change the rules in recent patch.

Mine is taking 420 minutes even after the reload.

You need the ancient that gives cooldown reduction maxed out (75%) to do that combo

Oh yeah. I forgot they changed it a few patches ago to where you needed an ancient to get the 75% cooldown. That used to be after a certain number of hero souls were accumulated, 75 IIRC.

I'm ascending every couple of hours now with a few thousand hero souls to spend.

You have to have Amenhotep to at least level 150 and buy the associated Ascencion upgrade before you can ascend.

I'm pushing towards level 1000 now, but then I'm stopping. There are only 5 remaining achievements after that - for passing levels 1200, 1400, 1600, 1800, and 2000. 1000 took me a month to get to, I'm not even attempting those higher levels.

I finally realized I shouldn't be spending all my hero souls so starting to make some progress. Ascending once a day now.
