I think we need to lynch one of GP_Matt or starseed. Both claim to still be aligned with the town and both jumped to other groups. I want our next lynch to tell us something. GP_Matt has said he thinks the group is neutral, that he is still aligned with the town, that he doesn't know if the Eternal's are aligned with the town, that even though he saw no benefit to joining that group he still did as there was no downside and yet he cannot provide us with an upside. Too damn weird for me.

I have to teach a class all day tomorrow (Lifesaving Officials...fun!) so I will be limited to my lunch break. Please, no big reveals before 4 and no lynching! I don't want to miss the MOT thread.
PS I'm still really confused.
PPS where's Rathji?

This pretty much sums up what I've been thinking tonight. My initial thoughts yesterday when everyone jumped on Matt about his "RD wifi access" post was that it was a simple misunderstanding, similar to last game when someone used the wrong word about lynching or something and everyone swarmed on them. (same thing Hockeyguy referenced)
But I agree there's something about Matt's posts that doesn't seem genuine to me. I think it would make sense to vote off Matt today and see what happens when a 'member of the eternals' gets taken out. I'm also interested in seeing what happens when a 'member of the gaurdians' gets voted out, but that can wait for another day.

By my count 5 votes for GP_Matt + the one unaccounted(?) makes 6. He is 4 away from lynch.
I'm sticking with GS but if Matt flips Scum GS is off my radar.

Are people voting for Matt because they think he is scum, or is it because of the cult issue? If Matt was scum why would he comment about RD's availability and put the spotlight on himself? He would already know RD was town, so why would he stick his neck out? I would lean towards Matt being town by that logic. Or am I way off base here?

He posted he didn't know what RD was and even voted against him. So if he knew RD was town then that points even more toward him being scum.

GP_Matt is now getting votes IMO from his association with the Eternals.
I for one found his reason for what he said as plausible. Still that is not proof of innocence.
I have read up on some "Cult" Mafia games and there are some wild conditions
such as suicide pacts if the leader dies which can happen if they recruit scum.Which may or may not apply here. Some win conditions happen if a cult recruits more people than townies.
One forum I read had some previous players mentioning that "hidden cult" games tend to get players "freaked out".
So there is reason for concern I believe with these factions or cults.

If he knew RD was town then he is for sure scum. Unless there is a new twist to this game only the mafia know for sure who is town, the rest of us are in the dark until the card flip.
I still say that if Matt was scum he wouldn't have said anything about RD's availability. Am I wrong in thinking that Matt is town?

Also I do not see the benefit of joining one of these factions. There has to be a dangling carrot you would think. I'm not sure that these recruited people are being genuine with our inquiries. It was said that someone states "you will become powerless" yet this could be an empty threat.
I am perplexed with this sequence of events. I am not sure a lynching of one of the members would reveal anything, but then again it could. Somehow I think our gamester Mazrim would have thought of these situations and how players would react.

I feel that he didn't want to disclose any information about the Eternals to town while 1 vote away from death is sketchy. But my focus is more on how he denies being concerned about a lynch.
He had 11 votes and multiple votes waiting to hammer him. If he's not concerned then, when will he be?
So I see a couple reasons:
1) He misread how close he was to death.
2) He's part of the mafia and had mafioso voting for him who he knew were going to remove their votes regardless.
3) Eternals were able to protect him, either through powers or through personnel changing their votes.
4) He's lying about not being concerned and didn't disclose information about the Eternals because he's no longer town aligned.

Again only GP_Matt has the one unexplained vote! No other members of the factions have this penalty. Why?

I think it was a penalty for joining the Eternals. Remember the bulletin board said 'join at a cost'.. I predict ECF will get the extra vote tomorrow.

To reiterate the rules, you shouldn't use outside sources to prove your identity (or your honesty). I always say to refer to the Mafia wiki for role information, but aside from that you should be playing the game in this thread and proving things through deductive reasoning as much as possible.

I agree with all your reasons except for #2. when the vote was at 11 you have no control if someone decided to slam down the hammer vote look what happened with RatherDashing. That is living to close to the edge IMO. No way would you play it that risky.
Somethings fishy there no doubt. I'm not advocating his innocence I am just trying to avoid a catastrophic loss like we had last night. We cant afford it.

I don't disagree, it might have been a risk they were willing to take given the circumstances (if he is mafia, they might have piled on earlier and couldn't unvote right away without look suspicious) but the risk was there. But that really goes back to my point, how can he not be concerned when he has 11 votes and any one could have cast the hammer?

#3 is definitely possible. But another possible reason for his bravado at 11 votes was because the town was stalling. We kept saying don't hammer him yet, he might have something to say about the Eternals, he might know something about RD. RD might show up be useful The town was never going to hammer that early. Even when I hammered, people thought it was too early.

Time will tell. It bugs me that there seemingly is no quid pro quo. For that reason alone I distrust starseed, East Coast Flame and GP_Matt
