I can't believe how fat Kessel is in those RSN commercials. Absolutely stunned. He's full out man boobs and big spare tire. Not even Kyle Wellwood let himself go that much in the offseason. I always worry about the long term ramifications guys that never took care of their body when they get into their 30's and start slowing down. Look at Nik Lewis as he's pretty well done at the age of 33 after being a consistent 1000 yard receiver for every year of his career. I just don't understand some of these guys as their body is their main tool especially as they age and can no longer rely on talent alone.

In fairness, this is one of the few cases where Big Tuna's opinions aren't completely outlandish. Yzerman really could convince Babcock to come suffer in Toronto.

Kessel hasn't missed a game in 5 years. Most guys don't age well do to style of play/injuries.

Phaneuf has played the left side many times in his career before. He still sucks.

No no. This year is different for the reasons:
1. Phaneuf himself said he would be
2. He's had a good preseason
3. Because it's totally normal for a 30 year old defenseman to suddenly get better

Perhaps if he does stay on the first line.
At the time I said that Lupul was, statistically one of the best BTW.

Phaneuf has to get this right. And he will.

On this board it's clear Phaneuf would not make a top 80 NHL D-Men list so I'm not going to bother.

That's because he just isn't a very good top pairing dman....saw him plenty long enough to know that too.

According the the MacLeans article cited above, the new Leafs' slogan is:
Entitled to nothing. Grateful for everything.
This sounds disconcertingly familiar.

Except pathetic?
Are they grateful for the single greatest collapse in sports history?
Do they send the Boston Bruins a Christmas card every year?
