I own a business and yes the cost per stamp is really not a big deal but if I cant buy permeant stamps as before (as of Friday I cant at my local post office) I will just switch all my invoicing to email and this costing cp business and since I am out of permanent stamps that will be pretty quick.
I also keep 50 envelopes pre-stamped to send Christmas cards, Thank-you's, Statements what ever I need to but because of this new policy my company will be doing things more with out cp.
Since I don't have time to care about the actual cent cost I don't want to buy cent value stamps just my imho

That does sound annoying. I too hate penny stamps. I can't see them making Permanent ones available until the price increase next year.

Agreed. From my sample size of exactly 2 (my parents, who are 63), they're not bothered about the change. They find that they don't get much of value by mail these days anyway - certainly not enough to justify daily delivery to their door.

Granted, they both have their mobility. But if they didn't, they've got neighbours, friends, and family that would be happy to help them out. If I had a neighbour that couldn't get their mail, I guarantee you that I'd pick it up for them daily the same way I would shovel their sidewalk for them or cut their grass.

I have had a super mailbox for years, and thanks to digital delivery, I only check it about once every couple of weeks. There simply isn't anything of importance that I receive there. I also have a "no unaddressed admail" sticker that I made and stuck to the inside of the box, which prevents it from getting stuffed full of junk. I understand that this cuts into Canada Post's revenue a little, but I just can't stand the amount of waste.

I do feel for the people who will lose their jobs, and hopefully most of it will come from attrition and early retirements.

Wasn't sure where to post this because it's not at the grind my gears level yet, but more of a lol/wtf level. My package made it to Victoria on Monday, but decided to take a quick trip back to Richmond/Vancouver for the afternoon. It returned to Victoria on Tuesday and it looks like it's been given the royal tour around town for the last couple days.

I'm guessing it takes a trip back to Vancouver tomorrow.

Well, it's been over two months since I argued about this point, and in the last 10 weeks, still not one piece of mail on a friday. This wouldn't ordinarily bother me, but I am waiting for a piece of mail that could take up to 6 months to arrive, as it's from an unreliable government on a different continent, and so I am checking my mailbox every day (M-F). Now I'm starting to wonder if my postie works on mondays, either.

If it happens to be the case, that I have a part time postie, it doesn't bother me. It's really not my business how CP does business. 4 (or 3) days a week is better than 1. I've heard it before, though, that posties work 5 days a week, and here in this thread, a postie claims that it's "impossible" that my postie never works on fridays.

I know what some of you are thinking, and yes, I've asked my neighbours. I've lived here for less than a year, and have only befriended my immediate neighbours, and neither of them give a crap about their mail, and only check periodically, so they're not a useful source of info. I did, however, just talk to a random person at our superbox a few minutes ago, and she said (heavily accented, so I'm kinda piecing it together) that she only ever receives mail when "there's the rubber around it", and never on friday. So I'm assuming she means a rubber band, thus indicating that it's only when there's a few pieces of mail. It could also mean one other thing (I happen to know a thing or two about CP, as I once did parcel delivery at xmas, back when they hired contractors), that she's at the beginning or end of a delivery bundle, and the postie just happens to leave his rubber band on her mail when her breaks the new bundle.

But also, she agreed that we never get mail on Fridays. Being a bit older, and it being 230 in the afternoon, I kinda think she's the type that actually checks every day.

I suppose that's a pretty long winded post, for something that allegedly "doesn't bother me". I guess I'm just trying to figure out whether I'm 100% wasting my time by checking my mail on Fridays or not.

I currently get home delivery, but I noticed that we also never get mail on Fridays. I have however, noticed that our post guy delivers mails sometimes on Saturdays and Sundays...

We have seen him making his rounds for the past few weeks. I haven't been able to catch him to ask what's up but it is strange.

If you do ask him, I'd love to hear the answer. I just want to know what days I can expect delivery. Not my business if he/she gets fridays off, just want to know the days he does work.

I would be one of your neighbours that checks so infrequently that I have no idea when my mail is actually delivered. I'd be OK if mail was delivered twice a week, for example, but I agree with you that it would be nice to know when that would be.

Heck, I'd be fine with weekly delivery. But I know that would never fly with a lot of people.

I am convinced that we never get mail on Monday's. I have no empirical evidence though.
I do know that they have a problem in Grande Prairie with a shortage of drivers and when someone calls in sick they are pretty boned.

Yup. I could totally deal with once-a-week delivery. Just want to know what day it is.

I actually ran after our Postie one day at work (most items I buy I have shipped to my office) to ask him to explain why an item that was marked "delivered" showed up 4 hours after the fact. He was actually quite surprised someone called him out on this and started stumbling over his works before saying "sorry, I really shouldn't do that" No, you shouldn't as ultimatley these are the ones that go missing and you call CP and they say "according to our system, it was succesfully delievered" Well guess what, it wasn't.....

CP is total bush league....

Canada post needs to GPS/AVL their company vehicles like every other business out there.

I have a buddy that was a posty a few years back doing a contracted routes and he often skipped days.

110% in favour of abolishing all single residence delivery, in favour of super box.

I would like delivery once a week. It would be possible if they got rid of junk mail, but obviously wouldn't make it worth having sorting facilities for only weekly delivery and no flier revenue for CP.

On Friday the 21st I had about 12 things in my mailbox. This is quite unusual, as normally it's between 0-2. I realized I hadn't received anything in the mail for a couple days, but that's not usual. What did bother me was they left a delivery notice for a small parcel I had been waiting for. They checked the box for no answer, which was correct, and told me I could pick it up the next day at a post office. I checked the date, and they had written the 18th.

I'm guessing I received a lot of mail because they hadn't brought it the last three days. I hated how they said they tried to deliver it on the 18th, but couldn't, and then waited three days to give me the delivery notice. If you didn't come to my house, you don't get to say you tried to deliver it. Jerks.

Community Mailboxes have just been installed on the street where we are moving to in a couple of weeks. The new style mailboxes look pretty nice - imo, better than the old style superboxes I'm used to.

Forget 'Home Delivery' it'd be nice if they at least delivered every day!
