Does Jooris Make Opening Day Roster?

I dont know if this guy could have had a better camp. We really found the diamond in the rough with this young lad. Been talking highly of him as our darkhorse to make the team from the beginning of camp. I dont see how we send him down at this point

Hard to see a spot for him numberwise, but he put himself in the mix for call-ups and he's the type of guy who could 'Bouma' himself into a roll once he gets up here.

It's a numbers game. He should get a shot, but the contract situation likely means he's in the minors. There are going to be a few guys in Addy that deserved better.

It seems like there are... other... players who are more worthy of the waiver wire.

He may if injuries make room but there is no doubt he needs seasoning still. Another good year of pro down in the AHL won't hurt him.

He's had a few decent games but that does not make an NHLer imo. Let's see if he can build off of it this year to become a decent 3rd line NHLer.

Jooris goes down for sure. There's just no room (unless he bumps Gaudreau) since, from my vantage point, there's only room for 1 young guy.

What he has done is moved himself up the ladder considerably in terms of first names called up from the AHL. He's in the conversation with Baertschi, Poirier (once healthy) Ferland. Before camp he wasn't even close to that level.

Hopefully, in the next few months, Jooris, Gaudreau, et al continue to push and force Trevling to make a move and make some room (if injuries don't create those long term opportunities).

No. But he has really become a solid player.

We (CP collectively) voted him 35th on the prospect list this summer. If the vote were redone now, where would he go?

Arnold was 13th, Ferland 14th and Agostino 17th. IMO, he is at a pretty similar level to these guys right now - particularly Agostino. I look at him as a solid top 9 in Adirondack, with the ability to be called up and not look out of place for a few games.

I think with lots of ice-time in Addy, he has the potential to become a full time NHLer with a bottom 6 role.

I expect him to be the first call-up for a bottom 6 guy. Assuming guys like Jones, Bollig, Bouma, McGrattan, Byron are all healthy next week, he will likely be in Addy.
Extremely impressive camp though! He's put himself on the radar.

I think he makes the opening day roster.

He has the ability to be a very effective 3rd or 4th liner. He's good at keeping the puck down low, particularly in battling in the area behind the goal, and has good puck pursuit.

There was some criticism of him in these parts when he left Union College late last summer to sign with the Flames. But he gave up his senior year of eligibility on a very good Union College team (that went on to win the NCAA title) because I think he saw a window of opportunity to make the eventual leap to the NHL. Last year in the AHL gave him a full year to round out his game and the results so far this preseason have been quite impressive.

He will not make the team at the start of the season, he will be up for a few games through out the season.

He really should, but theres no room for him. And thats okay, he'll be a primary callup and really should have a solid spot next season.

It's great to see a surprise coming out of training camp but this guy comes out of almost nowhere. At best he was a third or fourth liner in Abbotsford and now he's knocking on the door of an NHL job. Ferland has been a nice surprise as well but at least he's had some previous success so he's been a hopeful and a guy you can't help cheering for. In Jooris' college career his best output was 32 points and he had unimpressive 27 points last year.

I think Gaudreau will get the last spot open and in order for us to keep another rookie, we'll need to cut a vet or put someone on the injured list. It could happen but cutting a vet is a long shot.
