Gonna start this conversation about Johnny. He just made the team. If not fire the President, GM, and Coach. Even when Johnny does not score, gets rubbed out, he makes high skilled hockey plays. He is a goal scorer that is an elite playmaker. Awesome.

Monahan looking good too. Bigger, and I could see the gears grinding, is this my first NHL hockey fight? It will happen this year. Guy isn't even 20 yet, one of the best on the team. I don't see no sophomore slump!

Bennett, love him. Love him to play all year on the flames. Would have a solid year. Yet he is better served in junior. He is too physical for his body to hold up. 10 15 pounds of muscle would serve him so well. Throw on 10 pounds of fat too for a cushion lol! A future star, lets not rush him though.

Jooris! I thought he was AHL fodder. To be honest he is..... Yet heart and work ethic. You cant tell me he is more skilled than Setoguchi. Yet he makes you notice him in a good way from effort. He has impressed me. Does he deserve a shot on the team, absolutely.

Russell? He has played so much preseason hockey, did he piss the coach's off or something? He has played great. Really great!

Nice to have Smid back. Just solid.

The Johnny Cash song "Ring Of Fire" needs to be replaced with this much better rock version....

The Flames would be absolute morons to cut Johnny at this point. The guy is easily our most skilled forward. Every time he's on the ice, he makes something happen.

With you on this, up until this game I thought he'd likely be down there to start but after how dominant he was all game, I think he's in for sure.

Unfortunately, I think Bennett is just a touch too raw to make it, maybe he gets a real game or two to start, but I expect he's going down for now.

Was at the game and Jooris was one of the more noticeable players in the first two periods for his energy. Gets rewarded in the third with new linemates, and to be frank Bennett and Gaudreau looked for too nervous the first two periods trying to do too much or think to much, so they too benefitted from Jooris changing the dynamic of that line.

Havent seen a 2-0 breakaway without a shot on goal for a long time. Best part was it shut up an annoying Jets fan for the rest of the game who was treating this as a playoff game .

Our D will be a lot better this year.

Engelland was a good pick-up.

Goaltending looks like it'll be way better too.

I don't form opinions after six to nine periods of hockey and then go around sharing them to the extent that I'd expect everyone to know that's how I feel. That's just me though.

I've been very pleasantly surprised about Jooris this preseason. Definitely underrated him in our prospect depth chart and although he'll likely start the season in Glens Falls I think he's earned an early callup.

Gaudreau is unreal. That move he made to get the puck off the boards for his 2nd assist was incredible. I have been completely skeptical of him the past 3 years and I need to completely recant. Amazing.

Monahan, Colborne and Jooris were excellent.

Bennett was solid but you could tell he's just not quite there.

Baertschi looked really good and played a very complete physical game. I think he goes down (largely because they'll only have room for 1 young guy which has to be held for Gaudreau) but give it 35-50 games, the Flames will clear out some (at the moment, necessary) deadwood vets and he won't look back.

Very very exciting game against what is nearly the Jets regular NHL line up.

Not only will he make the team but he will also win the Calder as rookie of the year. He has great vision on the ice surface and seems to know where eveybody is. There was once Kent Nilsson who fans called the "Magic Man" and now we have the "Magic Man 2.0"

So we should wait until the regular season is started before we have an opinion on who should be on the regular season roster?

Maybe you are in the wrong place if you don't want to share opinions on hockey. But thanks for sharing your feelings on my ultra controversial comment on thinking Gaudreau may have earned his way onto the starting line up. I am loony like that!
