he isn't even skating with the injured group... i would say it is very unlikely he will be on the roster for opening day

It's sooo frustrating that what two Flames preseason games have been televised this year. I'm sure I watched pretty much all of them or at least the majority last year. I thought this new Sportsnet deal was suppose to give more hockey! Bulls**t bring back TSN.

That said excited to watch this one tonight with teams icing more NHL ready rosters. Hopefully calgaryflames streams it, otherwise probably head to the dome. Go Johnny and Bennett! If he plays.

I would be resting Gaudreau. IMO the kid already made the team, so there's no reason to add to the load of hockey he's already been playing the last month with an upcoming regular season grind.

I guess a case can be made that you need to see if he develops chemistry with someone, but I would rather he did that in 2 weeks vs burning out at some point in the season.

Yeah, and the more money owners make, the more ticket prices will drop!

Based on yesterday's lines:

Gaudreau-Monahan-Hudler
Baertschi-Colborne-Jooris
Byron-Bennett-Setoguchi
Glencross-Stajan-McGrattan

Giordano-Brodie
Smid-Wideman
Russell-Engelland

nice, that's basically the flames opening day roster (minus shoe-ins backlund/raymond who are injured, as well as resting up bouma/bollig. oh and that jones guy of course).

that D is the obvious starting rotation for opening day, with diaz likely being the #7 guy in my opinion.

looking forward to tonight for sure!

Last edited by bubbsy; 10-02-2014 at 09:41 AM. Reason: forgot about jones, though i bench him in NHL 15 :)

That Gaudreau-Monahan-Hudler line sounds fun. Look for Monahan to pot a few tonight.

The jets line up is no slouch either. The Kane-scheifele-ehlers line could be dangerous.

None of the kids have made the team yet.

The early pre-season games are against weak competition and the vets not going hard. You have to see how the kids can handle the games as they get tougher and tougher towards the regular season to really get an idea of whether they're ready r not.

Tonight will be a good test for them as the pace and skill-level of the game should be much higher.

Why are lower bowl still so expensive for pre-season?

What's attendance been like? If I get some cheap ticks can I move to lower bowl without any issues? In town for few days so gotta catch a game....

Not gonna say I'll eat my pubes if he doesn't make the team, but I'm pretty sure I would eat my pubes if he isn't on the team.

My opinion, but I don't think he has much more to prove in the pre-season.

It's been pretty full. Just like with any other game, of course you can move down if you can pull it off and bear the shame of having to move when the actual paying fans show up.
