There was the one on the greyhound bus in Manitoba. Yeah, that was pretty big in the news.

The guy was previously a Christian with pretty radical views, he just recently converted to Islam and has a history of violence.

The problem I have with the reporting is that the right wing media plays this as a terrorist attack, yet when any right wing Christian bombs an abortion clinic, kills an abortion doctor, kills people, its just a unstable person, when its a Muslim well then its terrorism.

I agree with what you are saying, but I think it would be proper to characterize all of the above as terrorist attacks, not just the muslim acts of violence.

I was being facetious if you haven't noticed that's the tone of my responses in this thread. It was in response to a "Western Civilization humane" comment that really didn't have anything to do with the thread as Banana guy said.

Huh. I'd like to see the numbers on that. Could be true. It is an interesting way to look at things.

A comparable "stat":

Not all white men go out in public with a gun and shoot as many people as possible, but most people who go out in public with a gun and shoot as many people as possible are white males.

We should probably be suspicious of all white males.

except in Chicago where they have a huge issue in the inner city with killing of innocent people. You know Illinois where is was nearly impossible to get a gun...

Well good thing then that there is already deep suspicion of those very inner city people!

You know that people can just drive guns in from Iowa, Wisconsin or Indiana right?

Legally they can't..... I can't go to Texas and buy a gun.

Well they can't legally shoot each other either. A stone in the middle of water is going to get wet, no matter how much you want it to stay dry.

Your definition of impossible being you need to get a card from the cops saying your not a felon or a nutter and then wait 72 hours.

Absolutely, Timothy Mcvey, terrorist, etc.. Right wing hates the idea, because it paints the right as having a lot of dangerous people.

I have no idea what LAC means but the only thing Chicago, not even Illinois, required was to register your gun.
There was never any problem getting a gun there, you just had to jump through some reasonable hoops, wait 72 hours and register your gun, of course if you feed endlessly from the ######ed nipple of NRA propaganda you probably do think having to wait a couple of days is the same thing as never being allowed a gun because that's the moronic non sequitur of the gun nuts, any rules means inevitably the government is going to take your penis extension away and tell you what cereal you can eat.
As to concealed carry laws, well as you can guess I think anyone that wants to wander round with a revolver under their jacket is a chicken****, I've spent my life working with gangbangers and crackheads, I have no problem walking into grow ops and meth labs looking for my kids, I could get killed, I doubt I will but I'm not so scared witless I need a gun. The US would be a better country if the average NRA member would just grow some balls.

It's a lot easier to get a gun than you're making it out to be. When you have more guns than people floating around, many are going to get lost in secondary and grey markets. Combine a massive recession with the ability to buy guns easily, and you've got a recipe for a black market.

I recently went to Arizona, and a gun dealer offered to sell me an M16 despite the fact I informed him that I was a Canadian citizen (I did not purchase it) and not a citizen of any US state. He was the owner of a gun store with a permanent retail location. Apparently if you go to a "gun show" it's even easier.

Basically, legally dealers can only sell to citizens of X state. Private owners and gun show dealers rarely follow the proper procedures, and some secondary dealers (pawn shops and anyone willing to buy a used gun) are finding ways around the rules.

I figured someone has already posted this, but I can't find it.

In Long Island a guy beheaded his mother, then committed suicide-by-train.

I'm having trouble with the link.

Anyway, it happened yesterday night. At first some thought the body was a Halloween prank.
