Small sample size but both Gaudreau goals in the preseason started with a battle on the boards tying up a bunch of players, he swoops in, takes the puck and goes one on one against the D. I expect we'll see that a few times before he's done

Johnny looks too good out there not to make the team. I didn't see anything but the highlights so it's hard to tell but he does for sure look like our best player. Hiller looked solid but it's really hard to gauge things in the preseason. I hope Johnny makes the team for a few reasons, teams will hate playing us because we'll make them work for every inch and Johnny will make lots of teams look bad.

Results be damned, this looks to be another good year of hockey.

I'm not convinced he'll get that kind of scoring opportunity in the regular season.

1. He would usually see Varlamov.
2. Perfect storm of knocking a creampuff finesse player off the puck, who doesn't give a flying **** about the pre-season (Tanguay).
3. NHL defenders are better with their stick than that goof was, Guenin? He played that uselessly.

Johnny played really well. There was one scary giveaway, but he managed to recover and turn it into a scoring chance ?!?!

I was hoping Ferland would have a big game. Not so much.

Wideman was terrible. Really bad. Maybe I only noticed his mistakes, but there were lots.

That goof played 68 games in the NHL last year (spent the entire year with the Avs).

Imagine a Disturbingly hi-res stock image of a turkey carcass made into a gif, "twerking", and Miley's filthy mug is photoshopped on it, tongue sticking out and all. I don't think you do

Gaudreau was really exciting to watch. Everytime he touched the puck, you could feel the energy in the crowd.

Wideman was noticeably bad. Really bad.

Was impressed by Baertschi's overall game - a lot more grit and energy. It's going to take him time to figure out how to balance his offensive skill with the rest of a responsible game, but hopefully another part AHL season will let him do so. I think he gets sent back.

Monahan didn't have his best game, but I noticed that he was much more physical and confident in the smaller areas of his game - along the boards, faceoffs and in traffic.

Colborne was awesome again.

Diaz was meh. Really not noticeable for me.

Really have no idea/information about Acolaste. What his story?

I wonder if that will be Johnny's signature goal - much like a Brett Hull one timer or Messier snapshot on the off wing.

Johnny's passing continues to impress me. He always seems to make these passes where on the tv it looks like just a pass to open space but then you see his teammate coming into the screen at full speed to accept the pass and he is either wide open or has more speed than the defender and can easily make a play. I think the more players practice and play with Johnny the better they'll get, he truly is a player that creates chances for everyone around him

They did. It almost felt surreal. Something fans have been hoping and waiting for for a long time.

Everyone keeps talking about the adjustments Johnny will have to make to play in the NHL with the Flames. I think the biggest adjustments will have to be made by the Flames to play with a guy like Johnny. His teammates have to learn to go to open ice and expect a pass at any time.

His passing and vision is incredible. Watch him in tight, the guy has eyes in the back of his head. Not only that but he's constantly making little saucer passes over sticks that 99% of the team should NEVER attempt. I'm trying to temper the expectations here, but has anyone seen anything like this? I haven't seen pure skill like that since maybe Nilsson.

You could play the guy on the powerplay alone and he's still going to put up 30 points over the season.

I agree, his passing is what is keeping offensive plays alive. I'd say it's his best asset... the kid turns barely manageable situations into complete Flames' opportunities.

He goes into scrums, takes the puck and feeds it to a Flame player open across the ice. Every. single. time.

Middle of the photo, not middle of four people.
