Is there any doubt that mafia can talk to each other? I assume they can.
I just don't know how, if he does reveal mafia, change anything. Going into night phase they still get 24 hours or whatever it is. If he doesn't respond by say lunch time tomorrow, and assuming the day is going on, I'll change my vote as it's obvious he's just done talking but I think we should be giving everyone a final say before getting killed.

We already know the mafia can talk to each other
I don't see any harm in letting them talk, they're going to be talking all game. There's no rush
If he's mafia, there's no regrouping from this, matts getting lynched and Dashing will follow
The worst thing we can do in this situation is kill Matt and have him flip town, and we waste whatevert his ability may be. If rather wait and see what he has to say, maybe he actually has an explanation

The only harm in waiting is that whatever he decides as his excuse we don't have time to react. If we wait until 8 tomorrow and what ever he says causes chaos within the town we might not have time to regroup and we could end up with a no lynch. With that in mind a noon tomorrow deadline makes a lot of sense. It gives us a full evening to deal with any wild cards and will have given GP almost a full day to respond.
One thing that is worth thinking about but not necessarily discussing is we will react with whatever excuse comes up. The key thing is not to react rashly and kill timbo like last game.

We know the mafia can talk to each other. That is the fundemental principle behind the gamed. An uniformed majority vs an informed minority.

The longer we wait for an explanation, the less time we have to react to whatever Matt says. I'm pretty sure it's not going to be "I am just guessing about the wifi". I am worried that even noon tomorrow may be too late. With everyone's real lives going on, 10 hours may not be enough time to deal with the response.
Whether Matt is town or Mafia, the explanation is likely going to be somewhat complex. I just want to make sure we have time to react properly and not make a rash decision because the deadline is coming up.
That's just my take.

Okay, it's been 12 hours now.
I'm still suspicious of GGG, but this smells more then he does right now. You realize you are supposed to shower after boxing matches right GGG?
unvote
Vote: GP_Matt
That's 11 votes. Next one brings down the hammer and ends the day.

Back from the game. I did notice that GP_Matt and RatherDashing are 'friends' on CP. Doesn't mean too much, but I still have a gut feeling that Matt is town. Anyways, we're gonna need to find out for sure sooner or later so may as well get it over with. Should I wait for noon tomorrow? Or drop the hammer now?

I'm supporting Matt until morning/noon I think they are friends and Matt was just trying to help move the game along. RD's absence is concerning but if he is truly busy then we have a backup player.

Wow, I certainly didn't expect Matt to stay silent for such a long time. Real life can always interfere with things, but popping into this thread here and there should be possible for any participant and I thought an experienced player like Matt would try to clear the air sooner ...

Looking into the game sign up thread Matt said that he would be unable to post during the day and that he would post in the morning, evening and maybe at lunch. So he did say before the game started he would be less active.
I'd still give him until lunch

His last post does seen to suggest he would be active though as he talks about going over the thread. Not to mention that he's in this mess for saying that he expects ratherdashing to be able to post in the evening. Neither responding is pretty suspicious.
I'll wait to vote until around noon to give him his last word because I think that's an idea we should stick with.

agreed. Hammering him before he can defend gimself and/or offer parting thoughts makes no sense at all.
I hope Matt posts something soon.

I agree with waiting until noon, but think it's risky to wait too much longer than that. If Matt comes back with a complicated story this evening, you might see a few people unvote, which could push us below the deadline lynch target. Making day 1 a waste. Of course, the fact that there are probably a few mafia who have voted for Matt makes this even more likely if he is mafia.
Matt: "Long complicated story about how we have this power but we're restricted to posting once per day"
3 Mafia members: "That's very convincing, I will unvote and vote for someone else instead"
Result: No day 1 lynch

I had the exact same concern. But, the people who unvote near the deadline would sure look very mafia-like and would likely be easier targets going forward. If Matt is indeed mafia, I don't think other mafia members would "out" themselves by unvoting near the deadline to save one of their own.

But if he is town and has a power, won't the mafia kill him during the night because they see him as a threat? Either way he dies, right?

Agreed, waiting too long for an explanation wouldn't leave us with much time to potentially come up with a new target. I think at this point we hope for the best. Even if Matt and RD are friends in real life, there's still a chance one or both are mafia. If there are no objections, I (or whoever happens to be online) will drop the hammer at 12:00 sharp.

Looking at his prior post times he has missed his regular PM post time and is due for his AM post time within the hour.

I would go 12:30. Assuming he can only check cp at lunch it gives him a chance to post.
I think the answer now regardless of reason or power is to lynch. There is just too many things to explain. The original post and now the time gap. Trust will never be there again. That said I think we should still give him his pre death post.
