Royals walk off!

Feel bad for all of the A's fans on here, tough to see that happen to your own team.

Crazy.

Oakland goes all in, struggle down the stretch and then lose in the one game playoff.

Well that sucks. Good game by the Royals. Honestly could not have seen this play out this way just a few months ago. A's should be waiting at home for the winner of this game, but they choked in the second half and here we are.

Even with all the first round exits this century by the A's still love and am proud of the team. The environment they play in they should be the Royals, and go 30 years without playoffs. Billy always makes them competitive, and ask any Jays fan just making the playoffs is hard.

Oakland has to figure out how to get over this hump. Hopefully this isn't their last hurrah, and they get better next year. Ahh well, back to hockey. See yah next season.

Well MLB needs the wild card to be a best of five.

Brad Pitt was too clever by half especially the Cespedes move. #Chokeland

Wasn't a fan of the Royals since 1985. Even though I was only 9, I remember big fat Steve Balboni got a fluke hit in a game which turned the series around that the Blue Jays were in charge of to that point. Blue Jays still choked it away and missed out on the WS, but that hit from some guy clearly out of shape bugged me. Plus, for some reason, most of the games seemed to be in the afternoon while at school. Finally, they had Dan Quisnberry who had the unorthodox sidearm delivery which was also very annoying for some reason.

I also recall Tony Kubek (who did regular season color for Toronto) turning into a KC fan for the NBC broadcast...a big uproar about him using "Toronto, Canada" lots, as if Americans thought that the game was being played on the moon or something...and considering he was in Toronto all season, it seemed as if he was being a turncoat.

Also, probably because the Royals then got one of the worst calls in history go there way to help them win Game 6 of the WS, staving off elimination, fat ass Balboni part of that as well...then the Cards melting in Game 7. Flukes.

Go Angels.

I guess if you want to sum up a guy who has got a small market, cash starved team, in a run down building, quite often with lowest payroll to the playoffs what 8 times since 2000?

MLB has no cap, and teams like the Royals are prime examples of how every dollar counts, and drafting counts, and every trade counts. Tampa Bay where are they? Colorado?

Billy Beane is a great exec. Even the trade you mention got them the starter they needed. As a fan of the team watching them take on a Verlander in an elimination game, they needed to match arms. Lester was that guy.

So ya slam Oakland on choking, they deserve it, but I will take Billy Beane any day of the week over quite a few other execs. He still quite good at what he does.

I've been an A's fan back to the 80's and I love that despite everything going against them they find a way to make themselves a winning team. Go A's Go.

I was hoping to see an all California DS. Feel bad for Oakland, they were the class of the league for 3/4 of the season and fell apart down the stretch.

Or best of 3 at least. I doubt the Royals could beat the A's in a series.

Bumgarner vs. Volquez tonight.

Giants may have 10-11 pitchers on the roster. Pirates going with 9.

Pirate fans expected to bring the "blackout".
