Wow, as much as I'm glad someone else took notice, I can see how this looks damn suspicious .

As for the link, it's simply linked to Rathji's posts so far in this thread. Nothing you can't find with a couple extra clicks I guess.

lol I was just thinking how it was an odd coincidence that two characters make the same new target at the same time.

I can see what formulate and Timbo are saying, Rathji is posting in the complete opposite style that he did last game. Maybe he regrets how he played the last game and is taking it easy, not too sure. It's a good theory, I'd be comfortable voting Rathji

I was just as surprised but... that would be so brazen for Mafia to do something so obvious and so early in the game.

I would invite others to read Rathji's play in the other game maybe others also will come to this conclusion?

Anyhow it is what it is and I'm sticking with my suspicion.

Last game, the 8 mafia members were split into 2 rather distinct posting 'types', at least in my mind. There was the highly active and aggressive CaptainCrunch, undercoverbrother, starseed, and bizaro. And then there were the less active DropIt, Completely, CofR and (to a lesser extent) devo.

I began looking closer to see if I could find any correlation between activity level and alignment. I gave up quickly partially because it looks like there was nothing, and also because I saw something more interesting in regards to style.

The 4 less active posters (again, devo to a lesser extent) all had a fairly similar style of posts: pretty empty. What I read were lots of statements of fact, agreements with other ideas, and excuses for not posting more or more in depth. They basically did the bare minimum to not get noticed as the bottom end of the post count.

Now, I know this is likely confirmation bias creeping in, but it's day 1 and I'm struggling for anything concrete. I re-read through this game, looking for similar behavior and I found it:

Vote: Rathji

Take a read, if you wish:
http://forum.calgarypuck.com/search....archid=6488280

While I partially understand him being gun-shy from the last game, there's close to zero actual content there. Thoughts?
I haven't read past this post, but will comment when I am at a PC.

This post of Rathji's made me add him to my suspicious list. I prefer Oling though at this point but would be willing to move to Rathji's at the deadline to get a deadline lynch.

What's the point of throwing out a ton of votes?

As I said, I will give a complete post when I get on a PC. My 3 year old is refusing to stay in bed, so I can't hit the basement yet.

Fair enough for the quoted content. I am just reaffirming my suspicions. I would like nothing better than having you on the side of the light. Right now I feel dirty accusing you... but a townie's gotta hunt.

I'm hoping hmmhmmcamo posts more soon. There hasn't been much from him yet except that he is in favour of doing it randomly and there isn't enough of other people posting for him to post. Pika thinks that's a little weird. Wouldn't the way to get information be to start talking? He hasn't been targeted, so he hasn't said anything. Chu wants to know if you have any theories.

What about if we used a score or multiple scores from today's NFL games? Say everyone make a guess of what the total score of the New Orleans Saints vs the Dallas Cowboys will be and whoever's guess is the worst, gets voted out?

We could use all 4 of the afternoon/evening games if we want to make it easier/a wider spread, but guesses would have to be in by 4pm eastern time.

Chances are pretty good we vote off a towns person anyway, but at least a random vote can't be swayed by the scum, and we could get lucky.

So, this is going to be a bit shorter than I had hoped, but I still have a bunch of work to do tonight.

Last game I had lots of time on my hands. I was in an entry level job where I had everything running so well that I was able to spend a ton of time on CP. I have moved to a new position, where I spend all day working at various client sites and driving between them. If you felt the need, you could examine my posting history for the entire site since September 1, and it would confirm this. It was actually to the point where I was considering not playing this game, but in the end I decided that it didn't have to be as big of a time commitment as it was last time.

Last game, I screwed up pretty big the first day. I attempted to start the ball rolling on a vote that seemed a little off to me, just to see who would pile on. I don't need to repeat how badly that turned out. My goal, as I explained it at the time, was to try and see if I could flush out a voting block the first day that we could capitalize on later in the game if one of them turned out to be scum.

This time, I don't need to do that, because other people have done it for me. There is enough, that if one of the people in the potential voting blocks we have here turns up scum, that we can at least have a lead as to where to hit next.

The first day, you can't KNOW that someone is scum. You can guess and you will likely be wrong.

What you can do is ensure that you can get something from the voting, however slight, for use some day further on in the game. You can't do that if you jump on the first bandwagon and ram it into the ground. This is why I haven't been voting, despite having some feelings one way or another based on posts that seemed strange.

As I said, I will be voting tonight, but I need to review the stuff that has come up today, since when I skim things on my phone, it doesn't really process the same way as it does on a PC.

Pika thanks you for the Paul Brandt reference, unless it was not meant that way. Please let me know in case I need to remove my thanks.

I am not sure who is scum yet, too early. As of right now I have not seen any good reason to change my vote but I am willing to do so if the powers of light want to go a certain direction.
