Shame...I was pulling for Cundari. Not only would it have made that Bouw trade look better, but the guy seems like a genuine hard worker and has lots of jam. Little small though, and as someone said, prone to some gaffes in our end.

Hope the guy clears waivers. I think he will, he's not NHL talent just yet.

Of all the D-men I've watched over the past week and a bit, he has been at the very bottom and that includes guys like Gedig and the walkons.
He and Hanowski are the two players that have been the biggest disappointments this camp because they should be a lot better than they have been if they want to make the NHL on more than a injury fill in guy type role.
Realistically, both he and Hanowski should have been among the best prospect D-men and forwards because of their age and experience relative to the rest like Ramage was, and they were not.
Things can change, but the clock is ticking....

I was at the 2nd game which is the one I believe you are referring to. If you eyes counted 17 mistakes, you live in a make believe world and therefore I really I feel bad for even commenting on your post in the 1st place.

So you are saying Elliot will get past Edmonton? :P
If we do pick up this guy, I hope he comes in with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove after the Roy comments. A change of scenery and all that.

Once we signed Engelland it changed that poll since we no longer have a spot on the 3rd pairing for Butler.

Yeah, I would think that someone in the Flames organization is at least considering Philip Samuelsson. A 23-year old, defensive-defenseman, son of former NHL star (Ulf), former college teammate of Bill Arnold sounds intruguing.
Still, I'm not sure that the Flames would want to keep him (or any of these potential waiver wire pickups) at the NHL level for a full 82-game season.

They really are.
I honestly could not grasp the logic of some of the Butler love.

Blum had really good possession numbers in a small sample size last year. He was in the top 100 for fenwick hart last year, although he only played 160 minutes. You could probably expect him to drop to the 150-250 range had he played more. He could be an interesting pick up.

Not really a surprise about Cundari. Depending on his play, and the play of some of the young d-men, he'll probably get some action in Calgary later in the year, but he wasn't going to start with the big club unless there were a lot of injuries on the blue line.
|
I don't think Cundari's a good enough skater to play in the NHL. We have a few ahead of him at this point. Wotherspoon, Sieloff and maybe even Ramage now. Also depends on what they do with Diaz and that monster guy Yonkman.

Elliott was once considered a spectacular young offensive defenceman. Classic sophomore slump last season. Poor move by the Avs.
When can teams put in a claim for him?

He had a good rookie campaign and has regressed the past two years, so I wouldn't call it a classic sophomore slump.
