Just got home from a great preseason game if you are a die hard Calgary Flames fan as I am. I want to quickly upload some images from my phone, but I am having trouble getting it done.
Also want to post some game takes from tonight

It's nice that we actually have some real depth in goal for the first time possibly in franchise history. I can't think of the last time we had 3 goaltenders that could play in the NHL competently and steal you a game.

I agree Ramo's been solid, but I've yet to see enough consistency from Ortio to put him in the category of competent NHL goaltender. Hiller remains a question mark for me until he's shown more in a Flames uniform, but his preseason has been disappointing so far. Our goaltending is still far from solid IMHO.

“Yeah, I've heard all that and I do think I have the style of play they want and I just want to show it to them,” Ferland said. “I just want to keep showing up and play my best.”

“What's impressive about a young player like Ferly is that for all those young kids, now we're getting closer and closer to NHL hockey,” beamed Flames head coach Bob Hartley. “You don't want to have a separation. You need to keep up with the pace, and Ferly was a force.”

“He's fearless,” Hartley said. “He's not scared. He's strong. He's in shape. This kid deserves lots of credit — the progress he's shown and the maturity that he acquired over the last two years is unbelievable.”

“Obviously, they're letting guys go and I just want to keep playing hard and just stick around as long as I can,” Ferland said. “I feel good right now. I've got a lot of confidence, but I've still got a lot of work to do. I just want to keep grinding it out and hopefully stick around.”

Sorry, but the images will have to wait as I don't have albums set up.
Great game and the final score really belies the entertain!ent value , back and forth and up and down style of play.
Most solid hits of the game go to Bouma and Sieloff.
Besides a absolute beauty of a first goal by Ferland, he played a great game. Scoring 2 goals and getting a look at a hat trick, he deservedly received the games first star. This kid really impressed me in his overall game. A keeper and a player for a long time if he wants to be because his combination of skill and size are outstanding. You have to see his first goal. Took a hard pass went forehand and backhand deke with a top shelf finish at full speed and thanks to Stub Hub it was right in front of us...great seats for 20 bucks each.
Ramo earned the third star for 2 periods of work, really tracked the puck well, showed great poise, flexibility, and strength despite being under seige for a sizeable chunk of the first period.
Sieloff had a monster hit, which was clean and really looked solid against a first line Avs lineup .
Bouma and Grats stood out for some clean hits and all around solid play.
Johnny Hockey did not disappoint and he was robbed on a couple of saves by Varlomov. Great instincts, incredible hands, vision, and he really looks like he belongs out there. It sounds cliché, but the puck just seems to follow him. He made some defensive plays that remind you of watching Pavel Datsyuk picking someone's pocket and not once or twice, but repeatedly. Johnny needs to put on number 13:and in a few years could be the Flames Selke finalist.
I've got to get some sleep, but sincere thanks to Brandon Bollig, Brian McGrattan, and a Flames staff member (younger gentleman with dark hair and I cannot find his name on the Flames website to thank him) for the time they took during and after the pregame warmup to say hi to my 5 year old daughter, fist bump with her and Bollig gave her a puck from the warmup, Grats said hi and took his glove off for the fist bump, smiled and winked at her, and the Flames bench staff person went back to the dressing room and brought my daughter a Flames game puck!
My daughter was already a Calgary Flames fan because of me, but she was absolutely thrilled and overjoyed with her experience at tonight's game. She'll be talking about it for weeks and thanks to some pictures and her trophy pucks, she will remember the experience forever!

Not sure about Burke. Wills mentioned that Treliving was up in the press box with them for tonight's game.

Ferland is Burkes kind of mixture of skill and truculance. ( not sure on spelling).
Every game he has been noticeable. Hope he makes the club.

Ferland has been my darkhorse prospect for a few years now. He is the complete package.
Can't wait to see him fulltime with the Flames.

Jones had the the highest quality of competition and the worst zone starts of any forward on the team. For however maligned Jones is as an offensive player, Hartley used him pretty faithfully as a top checker, something Ferland simply will not replicate.
There's no chance that Ferland and Jones are competing for the same spot. Ferland, Baertschi, Bennett, Granlund, Gaudreau, Reinhart, Bryon, Bolling, McGrattan, Wolf are all competing for the last 3 forward spots.
Jones is very safe in his position on the team.

Busy few weeks for me, haven't had a chance to catch anything since the split squad match with the greasers. For those who've been following him, how has Seiloff looked? Is following the same progression we were so excited about before or does he look like a guy who was sidetracked by injury and is trying to catch up?
Awesome review of the game and really stoked to see Ferland make an impact. Seems like forever ago he was drafted and he's been quietly building some hefty expectations from me

Sieloff not only missed an entire season of hockey, but was practically in mortal danger, or minimally in jeopardy of seeing his future as a professional athlete of any kind evaporate. So yes, it is a virtual guarantee that his progression has stalled, and he will almost certainly need the next full season to get back to where he was this time last year.
To me, he has looked like a guy who needs to catch up.

Understandable, I wasnt trying to downplay the severity of his situation.. Should have worded that a little nicer. Glad to see him back, and above that healthy.

In Penticton, Seiloff was content to just play as a regular defenceman, just get the puck and get it out. He looked pretty steady to me but nothing special. Since than he's starting to bang some bodies and stand out the way he can. I think he'll have a good year in Glens Falls.
