I thought Hanowski looks slimmer and a bit quicker/faster than the previous seasons. I was not surprised that he got sent to Adirondack though because there really is no room for him in Calgary right now with all the veterans and he didn't really beat out some of the young guys like Jooris and others.
As for Wolf, too much hype on this guy before and I didn't really think he deserve a spot in the NHL at this time or he might not get a chance in Calgary as I think he only signed for one season. If he play in Adirondack, the way he played in pre-season games, no chance of Flames re-signing him.

Elson still being there blows my mind. Wolf should still be there instead of him

Wolf has never dressed for Germany internationally. At any level. So the fact he has never been regarded as one of the 30 or so most talented players in Germany should tell us all we need to know about his odds of sticking in the NHL.

I agree. At least Elson can skate and play two way hockey. If he ever make the Flames roster in the future, he'll be playing in 3rd or 4th line as two way player more like Stephane Yelle-type of role. No, I am not comparing him to Yelle.

Hanowski and Agostino look no where near NHL calibre even as 3rd or 4th line. Dissapointing that they hadn't even pressed to be bubble cuts.

I thought they would have cut another 10 guys. Its gonna be a pretty small camp opening for Addy. Like 12 guys on the ice small.

Be that as it may, Wolf's skating is atrocious. No doubt he's gritty and plays with a lot of heart, but watching him skate is painful.

I like Agostino. I think he's got a future with the Flames but not right now. He is a smart hockey player, not a defensive liability and I think he's got a potential to score at least 15 goals a season depending on where he plays. It is actually good that he got sent down early so he'll have lots of time and minutes in improving his game. Right now he might not get in to any of the remaining pre-season games. Hanowski is really tough to predict. He's got the frame to be a power forward and play physical but I think he is choosing to play like a more offensive threat. He will have to choose anytime soon on what role he can play. He's only been with the Flames organizations for over a season so too early to give up on him yet.

Addy isn't on-ice until Tuesday, it's only physicals/fitness on Monday. Expect more cuts after tomorrow night's game, which will get guys to Addy for Tuesday.

IIRC Hartley essentially said after Wolfs first game that he looked fine but needs a lot of adjusting to the NA game. So Adirondack seems natural.

Hanowski only got one preseason game I think. Not much chance to impress. I agree his time might be running out.

Brian Burke is not the one who is making the cuts. People need to get over the notion that every decision made with this team begins and ends with him. It does not. Brad Treliving as the general manager and Bob Hartley is the coach.

On another note, I am happy to see Arnold still sticking around in main camp.

I really think us fans are writing off a lot of our prospects way too soon.
Guys are getting cut and sent down is not really an indication of their future with the team. Its camp, players are not in tip top game shape and have zero chemistry with their teammates. Only the elite stand out in camp, and even then the sample size is so small its so hard to judge.
If every fan is truly honest with themselves you could of picked the starting lineup for the flames prior to camp regardless of how the players play in camp.
We have open roster spots for a 7th dman and one maybe two forwards tops. 7th dman will be a veteran, we all know that, Brookbank Diaz Potter Yonkman. Doesn't mean Kulak Culkin Kanzig Ramage etc etc are hot garbage. Gonna take at least 2 years before a dman gets a true shot to make this team.
As for forwards? Come opening day Setoguchi will be on the team, David Jones, only guys with a chance are 4th overall draft pick Sam Bennett, and the world renowned Johnny Hockey. Johnny hockey has elite world class skills, and may yet find himself in the AHL. Is it right? Nope, but this is the way it is. As for Bennett, he will be back in junior.
Roster is set guys. All you can do is sit back and hope like hell we make a bunch of trades this year for draft picks, open up some spots for the rookies.

Are you writing off Granlund to make this team? Even with the Backlund injury?

He has an AHL contract. He'll be in the Flames system this year, but he'd need an NHL contract to play in Calgary. He's been a surprise to me, looked better than guys like Van Brabant and Hanowkski who would be competing for a similar role in the future.
