Still some good things to takeaway from this game once I remind myself it's pre season and mostly rookies.

Byron and Bennett looking fantastic.

Starting to like our d prospects more than I did before. Lack the high end talent but lots of solid serviceable guys.Inexperience showed on the pk but a solid showing during even strength play

Carr looks promising, has the ability to really flourish under a pro goalie coach imo. Addy backup or Colorado starter next year?

Think McGrattan had a solid game, never a liability. Hoping he can turn into a solid 4th liner rather than just a face puncher.

Almost sad the Nucks couldn't get an even strength goal. Boring game overall if you didn't make it a point to see how each kid was playing. Same with last night. Can't wait for that home opener between these two

He's still getting over a hip problem.

This is a really silly thing to complain about, considering that this was a regional Canucks broadcast that was picked up by SNWest. This happens every year.

#Flames coach Bob Hartley says Markus Granlund (upper body) will be evaluated further tomorrow. He played in the first two periods.

No ####.

Just wished if he was well enough to start he may get a little more work not just a single period.

4 games left. I wouldn't be surprised to see Hiller and Ramo play two full games each, with Ortio backing up all 4 games.

A split would be great get each goalie two full games each would be beneficial.

That was one of the worst hockey games I've ever watched. I literally fell sleep at one point

No need to panic as it's preseason against the one team the Flames simply don't have an answer for. We probably won't have an idea how competitive this team will be until we get in the regular season and play teams other than the Canucks. Hartley must be getting tired of losing against the Canucks so routinely. It's like the Canucks played 10 minutes in the last two games which was good enough to easily handle a couple of Flames squads.

Boring game but still somethings to talk about.

Thought Russell and Byron were the only good vets, Russell seemed to handle the extra workload well and made smart plays all night. Byron's speed and vision were noticeable, saw him lay some hits too, which while they might not be that strong is still always nice to see.

Bollig and Seto were painful to watch at time. Bollig had some bad penalties and when he did get chances couldn't come close to hitting the net, though at least he had chances. Seto had maybe one chance, but more often than not had plays die on his stick. Whether it was losing control of the puck in open ice by himself on the powerplay or making passes to no where it was not a good night for him.

Liked what I saw from Bennett and the majority of the young defense against what was almost an opening day roster for the canucks. Bennett out muscled a couple canucks defenders multiple times and never quit on a play. I think you could tell the two games in two nights and lack of flow in the game hurt his performance though. For how young the defense was I thought they did well, Sieloff and Ramage standing out the most.

Would have liked to seen more from Granlund (although injury may have played a factor) and Reinhart. Neither were overly noticeable at all, in fact I didn't realize Granlund was playing till he took a penalty. Still waiting for a game where Reinhart sticks out and prove he should be in the convo for a spot, he seems to make one or two nice passes a game, but other than that I haven't seen enough. Liked BVB's simple game but made some hits, took a smart shot when he had the chance and was never noticeable in a bad way. Also thought Knight put in a decent performance with who he was playing with and the type of game that it was.

One team the Flames don't have an answer for? Yeesh. An NHL lineup beats a AHL lineup. Goodness. Only Kris Russell had NHL experience on D and the Canucks couldn't score even strength. I'm not sure your post demonstrates that you understand the point of the preseason.

For 2 straight nights, Vancouver radio (surprisingly) raved about Bennett.

"Canucks fans shouldn't be excited about facing Bennett for years to come, but HOCKEY FANS should be excited about a talent of his level coming into the league!"

That speaks volumes

Don't know about some people but seeing the rosters earlier today I already wrote this one off as a loss before the puck even dropped.

It's annoying that we undermatched them twice and they got a chance to walk over us, but I'd rather we sort out the best possible roster for opening night, and smoke them when the games and points start to count.

I got to be there for tonight's game. Not the best game overall. 1st period was particularly sloppy. Looks like the Vancouver coach really wanted to get this win for the Canucks. The Sedins played basically all the PP time for their team. Granted, they did pretty much whatever they wanted out there, but I was just a little surprised they didn't try to give guys like Horvat or Jensen more of a chance in a meaningless game.

Bennett was awesome yet again for the Flames. That kid looks dynamite. I really don't see any limits on his game. Didnt look out of place on the pk. Forechecking demon. Almost had a beauty goal early. Owned the puck at times in the ozone. Should be able to do it all in a couple of seasons.

Byron looked like a legit NHLer. He was hustling all over the ice and winning battles. Hudler wasn't bad, just quiet. Probably going through the motions a bit like a lot of established players.

I thought Reinhart looked pretty bad. Gave up the puck a lot trying to beat defenders one on one and just threw away some pucks. Didn't seem to be able to come up with any pucks on the fore check. He'd probably be better off trying to play a simpler game. He tried to force offence but didn't have the skillset to pull it off.

The rest of the Flames forwards didn't really seem to have any moments that were memorable. McGrattan laid a few hard checks which was fun.

I thought Sieloff had a strong game on defense. I've given him a hard ride in the past for his lack of offense in juniors but he looked effective tonight. Looked really mobile and made a lot of good reads on the defensive side of the puck. Didn't do anything with the puck but didn't get much of an option to defer to a good puck mover either on a lot of shifts.

Ramage was alright. Seemed just nice and quiet which is good for a d man. Kind of screened his goalie a couple of times but it was Carr so can't blame him for trying to do everything to block shots.

Thought Kanzig stood out for just looking like a poor all around defender. He sure looked big though.

Don't know who Doug Carr was before tonight but he didn't help the Flames out at all.

Not so silly at all. This wasn't a Canucks broadcast picked up by SNWest, at least it isn't supposed to be a Canucks broadcast. It was a national broadcast on Sportsnet 360. If this is what is supposed to be a national broadcast, Sportsnet as usual sucks.
